    Today we have ANCAP - Aust New Car Assesment Program. I guess back then they had ANTAP. Oh, and Crash Test Dummies referred to the intelligence of the volunteers...

    Used as a standby for logging speed of boats. A loose wound rope with knots was attached to a "log" and thrown over the stern. The amount of knots that went through in a given time was the speed hence the term knots for maritime speed.

    They later adopted it for aircraft but it must have been breezy.
