Useful feature or odd idea from the fringes?
Got an email from a US company today, advertising it's latest offering, including this -
Another revolutionary feature of the Invertig 251 is Dynamic Power.
This feature allows you to vary the power (amperage) just by adjusting how close your welding torch is to the work surface.
No foot pedals, buttons, or hand controls needed!
I would have thought that as a feature, it would not be a desirable one. For example, welding along a seam (butt weld) and then having to cope with going around something (fillet weld), or having the material change thicknesses (say welding in a casting). Probably make starting and stopping a weld (getting to or from the edge of material) harder too. Can anyone think of a situation where this feature would be a plus?
