Purple tab washer - any significance?
I just replaced a tap washer, connected to an old off-peak gravity feed hot water system, which provides water at a measured 75 degrees C (yes, that's extremely hot!).
Anyway the old washer was brass with a purple plastic? washer which I've not seen before. It seems to be labelled "DR PCF".
Is there any significance to the purple colour - perhaps one rated for extremely hot water?
I replaced it with a Hydroseal washer (brass with O-ring). Ryemetal.com (manufacturers) says they are suitable for hot and cold water, low or high water pressure. One of these days we should retire that old HWS and connect the laundry to the much newer gas mains pressure one we also have. However, the electric hot water was handy after gas was cut off after the Longford explosion.
