Restoration of Estapoled Stairs
My wife and I do volunteer work from time to time. At present we are painting the home unit of a disadvantaged lady. The unit is 23 years old and the staircase is made from kwila wood. It looks as though originally it had been finished with one-part Estapol polyurethane (certainly not the two-part stuff).
One option would be to give the stairs a fairly heavy sand and apply a couple of coats of one-part polyurethane. We were wondering if there are other options such as using an oil. Would these type products be compatible with the existing polyurethane? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Glenn
