joist/bearer spans?

Hi people. Just a couple of quick questions. What size bearers will i need to span across stumps which are 1600 mm apart (centres). And what size joists will i need to span across between bearers which are 2200 mm apart. Im building a deck that is 3200 X 4400. Thanks in advance for your help.

Wouldnt another row or two of stumps be cheaper than bigger timber to span the gap?

Get yourself a copy of one of the 'Pocket References' - either one will do, although I think the yellow volume has more beam span tables in it.

I suggest you use local knowledge ie. Timber Promotion Council (Aust) as they have DIY and Prof. Manual for these projects. Also U.S. books are for U.S. & not with local timbers.
Previous comment of "less span between bearers is better" is the way to go.

But wouldnt the gradeing be the same?
You know F7 is F7 etc.......

Im sure the timber gradeing system here would have been pinched from the yanks anyway.

Timber Queensland have a good little publication on decks which includes span tables.
