Help with self-opening hinges
Yes you read that right. Please look at the diagram of the plan view of a hallway with a 'pedestrian gate' (am yet to build it) about waist high in a doorway without a door. It shows two options for the gate opening either of two ways. (The one on the left is the best looking option but we considered both when investigating the actuator option as the other way was easier to implement). The photo is looking from the left side of the diagram looking through the doorway to the hall. The gate will echo the bottom part of the far French doors.
My client really wanted a linear actuator to automate the opening and closing of this gate (it is to keep a dog in one area until they decide to release). But there is no pretty way of doing this without the mechanism standing out.
I've convinced him to think about an automated striker and sprung hinges so that at least the the opening could be automated. Closing could be done at the time of putting the dog away.
But I'm having trouble finding sprung hinges that are self opening instead of self closing. They should also offer a controlled opening like a damped motion rather than a free swing.
He wants discrete, he doesn't want things like a Roll track door closer or other gadgets hanging off the doorway.
I'm pretty sure there's no neat way of doing an actuator.
Anyone have leads on the hinges?
EDIT. I seem to recall that some public dunny stalls had cammed hinges but can't remember if they are self opening or closing. I think self opening... Cammed would be good I think, more controlled motion.
Cheers

The ones used on toilet stalls are gravity hinges.

The ones in the link can be set to open or close.
