    Default Putty for meranti table

    Hi

I have completed sanding/stripping a meranti table. There is a samll half-mm wide split about 8 cm long. I am not stainging the table...just the natural look. What sort of putty should I use to match so that it is not noticeable?

    Thanks

    Conor

Sand the area with some 180-240 grit to make some dust, push the dust into the crack and apply some 2 part glue(arildite) to it but only on top of the crack sprinkle some dust on top and push it into the glue(hint wear a glove!). Wait till its fully cured then scrape or sand back flat. Being meranti you wont see it if its only .5-2mm wide.

Wattyl sell several types of putty including meranti

The chances of it staying in place depend on the coating you put over it
and the amount of use/shrinkage in the future
