Question, Who would have ordered the snipers to shoot. I was under the impression that the snipers would have been given orders to only shoot in dire circumstances or when given the order to take the shot NOT BEFORE. A motorcade of official looking cars isnt dire circumstances, unless someone in higher authority gave them permission to take the shot no shooting will (and did) occur
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

They could only have shot if there was an imminent threat of death or serious injury.
APEC or no APEC, the law is the same for everyone.
I actually think they are guilty of causing "Gross embarressment" to the police and govt. Wonder if they can make that a retrospective law

It's ironic that since they work for the ABC, the govt. is footing the bill for all this chaos from both sides of the equation. Oh well. It might be worth a laugh and it will certainly boost the chaser's ratings. Doesn't help the govt. much though.
BTW. Did you notice that it didn't take Bush long to make his first blunder? He's almost as bad as old Bjelke but not as funny. Saying OPEC instead of APEC. He's got the oils on the brain, but sorry, we've got none here. Invade somewhere else.

That was one of the funniest bits of telly i have seen for a while. Aus comedy is in a very bad state and the chasers are a breath of fresh air. I loved the body guards prancin beside the car and one of them nearly getting his foot run over

And yep, they should have been charged, but will get a slap on the wrist and sign a new multi million $$$$ contract at the same time.

I remember hearing an interview with one of the Chasers where he said that the formula had limited life and probably wouldnt last more that a couple of years. They may have legs if this got international attention. Ive heard the War on America book is a scream,

If you or I did this we would be either dead or locked up.
It makes the laws brought in specifically for APEC a farse if nothing more comes of it.
The whole project has shown breaches from shows Lawyers down to the Hire Car Company's respect for law and order. Government ministers had to know as did police.
If the lawyers didn't inform they should be struck off shows the level of corruption and their thoughts on your the tax payers $$$ which will be used to bail these idiots out once again.
Remember these lawyers work for the ABC or the Chasers show, its your money as tax payers pays for the show.
For many years Australian entertainers have followed in USA shoes doing stunts like this.
Norman Gunston, Paul Hogan and Strop and many others.
I love a laugh (never watched the show) but at what cost ??? Could this create a situation in the future of a over reactive security officer.
Royalty around the world have had breaches as well as politicians either for political stunts or satire some have died because of it. oeplle have been put in jail for less ask Amnisty International.

Did anyone see that weird ad on SBS last night slagging off bush and howard about being friendly with Indonesia? It looked like someone hacked into SBS's broadcast because I'm sure their board would never have allowed that content..........truthful as it was.

The US snipers (and other US security personnel) have been given authority to shoot to kill if in their opinion the safety of the US president may be in danger.
They have also been given idemnity from prosecution in those cases.
So if Bush had been outside the hotel (arriving or leaving for one of his travels) at the same time as the chasers stunt there would no longer be any chasers left.

Bad.
This show is pathetic.
Stupid kids embarrasing good people, most of the time.
I was seriously offended when they turned up at the Melbourne chamber orchestra concert, chanting crap.
Me?? I'd march on down to them, grab one buy the hair and drag him out. Just watch the others follow.
Alas, SWMBO would have blasted me for such an act. And others too.
If you know someone may be offended buy something that you do to them, you don't do it. Right???? OH???? You do?
If we get a reaction, is it providing amusement for others? At someones expense?
