Midge,
Have you received an e-mail to indicate that you will be sent another copy? I have been exchanging e-mails for the past week but to date have not been successful in getting a replacement sent.
Below is the text of an e-mail I sent yesterday morning (no response received yet)
Hi Customer Service,
We seem to be going around in circles on your response(see first & last below), somewhere in between Kristi's first response and Elizabeth's last response was an offer from Elizabeth to replace my undelivered copy of # 186.
I then responded to this offer with a yes please do, but then received a cut & paste of the original e-mail from Kristi, but signed off by Elizabeth.
Can you please send a replacement #186 to replace my undelivered copy?

Not being a subscriber I cant really comment on FWW... but with regards magazines coming from the USA I have subscribed to Woodenboat among others for several years now... not picking on Woodenboat per se they just seem to be the best at this caper and why I no longer subscribe
It was not unusual for it to turn up late by several weeks
It was also not unusual for it to have traveled around the world to get here
And it was also not unusual for me to get several of the same issue that have been sent to someone else in NZ Queensland or Argentina!! and here I mean really does a Swedish name in a Swedish city with a large word on the cover saying SWEDEN sound like Australia?
best "score" was a year back when I got 7 issues of the same issue and only 1 was mine... I onsent them to their rightful owners overseas... but thats really not the point is it!
oh and I didnt get offered a extra phart for doing so either let alone a month on my subscription... as good as it is and as much as I enjoy it Ive cancelled my subscription... Now I have a read at the newsagent if theres something particular I want to take closer scrutiny of I will buy it if not then I put it back on the shelf... easy as... and no more dramas!
Maybe thats your choice if your sick of the wait and dramas trying to sort it? Simply cancel the subscription and take a long peak at the newsagent buy it or not your choice... easy eh!Believe me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

Yep!
As has been the case with all my dealings with Taunton, I received a response within twenty four hours.
Regarding the lack of Geography, for ten years I was a franchisee of a well known Seppo Chain. Just one of the great annoyances was their insistance on sending us their weekly "domestic" newsletter. These would be sent from anywhere in the world, they would obviously air freight pallets of pre-addressed magazines to Bellarus or Chile or wherever air mail was cheap that week, and have some bloke stand at the closest post box (or whatever).
I gather that there are contractors who do exactly thatcontract distribution services and charge a margin for it. Again, I have to say that one or two magazines going missing in almost a decade is hardly something to get all twisted about!
On the other hand Dingo, I subscribe Woodenboat through BoatBooks and while they are regularly late, they are at least regular. I suspect that's because BB gets them then posts them out themselves.
It is a little more expensive than direct subscription though, but in my own way I'm happy for a company providing services in Australia to make a few dollars.
Cheers,
P

My experience with Taunton is like Alex's. A bit better, actually. This is the first time since I started subscribing to FWW three years ago that it has been late in arriving.
They have responded promptly to my emails and have offered to extend my subscription by one issue.
So I'm not complaining!Driver of the Forums

I received this email today (probably the same as others):
Dear Mr. Cohen:
This e-mail is to confirm that we have experienced shipping problems to
Australia. We are told that Fine Woodworking Issue #186 has been
arriving late to most Australia subscribers. If at all possible, you may
want to purchase this issue at the newsstand and we can extend your
subscription an issue to recover that. Our shipping provider has changed
and has assured us that the regular receiving schedule will resume
starting with Fine Woodworking #187. Please let me know what you would
like to do in the meantime, as far as purchasing #186 and I will be
happy to extend your subscription.
Thank you so much for your patience and interest in Fine Woodworking and
Taunton Press publications. We look forward to hearing from you and
filling your subscription needs in the future.
Sincerely,
Kristi

I went out and bought a copy of the latest mag at the local newsagent and instructed FWW to add a month to my account. By the time the October mag is delivered I would have received the December one!
