    Default Hi All and Cheers

Hi all from Kingaroy in Qld. I am an orthotic tech by trade which means i use bandsaws and grinders all day so i have naturally avoided this type of machinery in my pastimes. However my darling wife got sick of buying me fishing gear so this year for my birthday (3 weeks ago) she bought me a scroll saw. For 3 weeks i have been punching out clocks, boxes and ornaments and having a ball. Now as soon as that Nice Mister Rudd comes to the party with my $900, my plan is to quickly release the money into its natural enviroment and put a woodfast midi lathe next to the scroll. I figure $500 for the lathe and $400 should get me most of what i need to start off with some pens? Have not turned since high school (20 odd years back) so i dont want to start to big. Any advice or correction to my uneducated planning would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah and the cheers bit in the title refers to the fact that i have been lurking on the forum for a week or so and have learned heaps. Great informative site, u guys should be proud.
    Marc.
PS i offer no actual opinions on the current government other than the fact that i appreciate them buying my new lathe
