finishing hard maple
I was thinking of using some minwax tung oil finish on hard maple (http://www.minwax.com/products/speci...oil_finish.cfm). I've heard that hard maple is difficult to finish... is this a good choice? I'd rather not stain it, and I'm trying to avoid a polyurethane finish. There is also some padauk on this piece that will take the same finish. Any suggestions? If I do use the tung oil, what grit should I sand the surface to first?
