    I'll second
The Thin Red Line (the re-make is one of my all time favorite films)
and, Band of Brothers. (LOVE the epic stories- and at ten episodes- this qualifies)

There are many others of course, but you can't IMO go past these.

ss, noticing the type you like, I can't believe no has mentioned 'Where Eagles Dare' with Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton. The last 30 min are worth the whole movie, but that doesn't mean the rest is a sleeper. Very good '60s war movie.

My all time fav is Band of Brothers as it was based on the accounts of real people. Apparently it stayed fairly true to the accounts given by those that were part of that regiment. I have the DVD series and the book. One of my places to visit before I die is Normandy to view the area where it started.

    Thumbs up

    G'day,

    Three of my all-time-top movies:

    * Apocalpyse Now. Saw the 12:00 midnight uncut at Hoyts Regent in Brisbane and walked out white as a ghost, when a movies does that to me it's good because it made me sit bareknuckled in my seat and think.

    • Stalingrad (the german version SBS play everynow and then, way better than the Hollywood copy "Enemy at the Gates".

    • Saving Private Ryan

    Mini series: Band of Brothers.
I make things, I just take a long time.

Dam busters is a good movie and don' forget to look out for some of John Wayne war pictures, you can pick them up pretty cheaply and some of his war pictures were ok. although strictly American.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John
