reducing blotching in cherry sculpture
Hi, I'm working on a cherry carving, and was thinking of finishing it with danish oil, but I want to try and control blotching. Is it ok to use a washcoat (I was thinking about a 5% polyurethane solids with white spirits), and then apply the danish oil finish. Anyone any ideas/recommendations give us a shout.
Thanks

Watco
If you use the "natural" Watco and not the ones with color added, the wood should not blotch.
Try it on a piece of sample wood.
