Have You Had This Come Up...On Your Computer Screen
Hi,
Over the past 3 days when I have fired up the computer this info comes up on the main screen but as yet nothing has stopped me doing the few things I do on it.
Has anyone else experienced this previously?. If so, can you please tell me what you did to erradicate the message?
Cheers

I've had the same, or at least something pretty similar come up the last few days. Hasn't stopped me doing anything so I haven't been too concerned.

Yeh, I had the same thing. We are all using a realtek soundcard. I didn't check Master Splinters link, but as he said, Microsoft stuffed up an update which stuffed up the dll for the soundcard. SURPRISE SURPRISE Microsoft released something without checking it all out. Anyway the fix is easy.
Boring signature time again!

I was having the same problem. I installed the update linked to by Master Splinter and now everything is OK. Thanks Master Splinter.

Ian.

I thought that message meant that you'd caught the Irish Virus and had to manually delete all the files on your hard drive. Made a heck of a difference to the computer I can tell you

I followed Sheddie's link and just got:
The Requested Web Page is Not Available
Now, I can picture all you IT types rolling round in laughter at this, but surely if Microsoft is aware of this problem shouldn't they just be able to write the fix into the next update?
Why should I need to fix anything? If I take my car in for a service and they install the wrong part it's not up to me to fix it. Of course, I know the answer is that they're big and making lots of money and couldn't give a rat's about a few million cutomers here or there that are havining problems.

Yeap, mine was caused by a Windows update not working with Realtek Sound drivers.
I had to uninstall the Realtek sound driver & download the latest one from Realtek.
Fixed the problem.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Just go to your favorite search site and search for RTHDCPL.EXE. (I used Yahoo.) There is a MS fix for the problem. It only took me a couple of minutes to install the fix and re-boot the system. If you're on dial up, it may give you time to go pour a cup of coffee while waiting for the down load, if you walk quickly.

So does this mean my soundcard won't be working now? If that's the case I guess I'll have to do something about it.
