    Default Ethanol

Ok there must be someone out there in Forumland that know some or all of the ins and outs of ethanol?

I was at the pump today and noticed shell have one called E10 with 10% ethanol.

Was wondering how good or bad it is for the car..

    Pete,

I'd suggest googling "ethanol blended fuels" in australia. There is heaps of info out there about it!
Have a nice day - Cheers

    Pete,
I usually consume it at around 37%, although I've been known to have it overproof. Seriously though, it's been on the market up here (sugar cane country) for some years and most of the state government vehicles use it. It's not suitable for some older vehicles, but the fuel company should be able to give you a list with suitable vehicles (they did up here). Otherwise your vehicles manufacturer should tell you.

And you want to make sure that it's alot cheaper then the normal priced fuel cause you will use more fuel to make up the same performance from normal fuel.

It actually cost more in my car then normal fuel as I was filling up more often and the discounted ethanol was not low enough to offset the running cost of using more fuel
    Cheers

I run it in my yoot and find hardly any difference with fuel consumption, I tested it on on both for about 1 month at a time and the readings were about the same.

The yoot actually runs better with the E10 fuel.

    G'day.
I've been running the United Fuel's "Boost 98" in my Falcoon.

Makes the old girl go like a dog shot up the arrse.
Plenty of grunt (G'day Grunt) and good economy. It's 3 cents dearer than normal 91 unleaded, but the performance increase when towing is worth it.
    Hooroo.
