I looked at bringing in an old pickup from the States a while back and the price it costs to do it is really cheap.
I never did get around to doing it though.

also too, on most of the heavily modified pickups and cars, iv noticed that they almost always have a lot of parts from other care to improve the performance and handling...so what are these hotrods like to drive compared to your average falcon.
do people use them for there getting around from A to BHurry, slowly

One that woudl've been my fave by far, if I'd ever gotten it on the road, was a '55 Ford Mainline. Blown big-block 390 (3/4-race cam, dual Holley 780 double-pumpers) thru FMX auto to Tank Fairlane rear end. I put my heart'n'soul into building that car! Hehehe... A bloke up the road had just bought an SLR 5000 (they were bleeding edge back then) and was "testing his tyres" up'n'down the road outside, showing off to his mates. I just happened to decide to take the mainline for a quick road-test at the same time.
It was obviously unfinished; no exhausts, just the headers hung upside down with the bonnet removed but the SLR owner didn't want to play anymore and disappeared back in his own garage.Just as well... I didn't have a tray in the back either (or a fuel tank... just a 20gallon drum strapped in the psgr seat  ) and anytime I did more than touch the accel pedal it just broke traction and sat on the spot going through the gears. Would've been faster to get out and walk... but she looked and sounded the part at least.
I really, really wish I still had some pix of those cars. Unfortunately a girl-friend came along shortly afterwards, which is why 'twas never finished, and all my pix just magically "disappeared." [sigh]

Mate, that blood black ute looks just about stuffed! The suspension all sagged, some silly buggers tooken off the bumper bars so ya got nothing to put the rod holders on... it don't even have a roo bar ..... no racks for the ladders and evryone knows a traytop is better for carting sand and metal... wouldn't give you two bob for it unless its restored!

gota agree with the "should be used" comments. but I like them. never had one, yet.
a good mate just sold a 1929 model A ute that had been "restored" similar to the black one at the top here. He had it (bought it) for 12 months and it went out of the shed 4 times.
Problem is he got me interested in the "scene" and I want to build one now but it will have to be a regular user for me, I cant stand anything that I dont get my moneys worth out of.____________________________

hey forunna...
i agree mate, ifi was to get onee it would be a everday car, and my only car actually, not a park it in the garage show car to take out and pose on sunday....
it would look as fancy as a show car but only on the outside and interior trim, under the hood would be standard efi v8 , for easy maintainence and carry through to the rest of the car with 'normal' parts, no custom made stuff unless it has to be...Hurry, slowly

I'm thinking some of the old Brit utes could be brought up to speed a bit, into overblown retro. Like the Vanguard 6 of 1962-3 vintage, beautiful thing!
