Default how would i finish cement fibre board on wall before tiling

ive always tiled onto block walls, now i have a timber framed bathroom i have to retile, i have removed the old tiles and cement fibre board and now left with a timber frame.
do i replace with 6mm cement fibre board be ok? once i screw it all onto the timber frame and build the niche, do i need to tape and plaster the joins like you do on gyprock before you water proof the surfaces?? if so what type of plaster do you use?

Yes fibre cement sheet is best in wet areas, choose the brand of sheet you want to use then look up the manufacturers instructions for installation.
Sheet thickness and fixing will be specified, make sure to check if you are tiling as it will be different from painted, tiling height and weight of tiles will be a factor in what and number of fasteners.
The manufacturers also have wet area jointing compound for use, leave as is under tiles or top with regular air dry topping coat where it is being painted.

CSR wet area compound for reference

For reference: Install guides for Cemintel and Villaboard, have previously used both but I prefer the Cemintel as it has a better surface finish for painting in my opinion.

As per the manufacturers installation guide !
Quick look Cemintel is nail only, Villaboard is screw or nail but as I said, check the install guide for the product you use and how you intend to finish it.

Or just do whatever you want and have no support or callback to the manufacturer !
If it was the builder that did renovations too our house previously then 75mm framing nails would have been the chosen fixings
