Hat shelf Height?
What is the recommended height for a hat shelf in a built in wardrobe?

I’m not sure there’s a standard recommended height—it really depends on what you plan to hang beneath the shelf. If it’s mostly jackets, shirts, or trousers, you can place the shelf a bit higher. But if you’re hanging dresses or longer items, you’ll need to lower it. Another idea: instead of one long shelf, consider a built-in shelf unit on one side to create a column just for hats—it can be more accessible and organized.

That's a hat shelf in the picture? I never knew the name but in my place it usually takes the biggest boxes I can fit up there

Well you can tell by my reply I had no idea either! I think I'm going to give this caper up, I know diddly squat. I put my shelf at 1850mm, probably where it was originally but I cut the header over the doors out and moved it higher to give more clearance. I was pretty hopeless space before hand.

mic-d I don't think you can give up while you're doing great work like that
To make the very most of these spaces, I agree with designing lots of shelves (on which I actually do have some hats), compartments (eg folded jumpers etc) and drawers (eg smalls, t-shirts etc), along with space for long hanging (eg dresses, just 40 cm wide in ours) and double-up for short hanging (eg shirts, trousers)
