The Orange Room
Hi Groovers.
Do you think that debate, conversation is being stiffled by the "Orange Room"?
Every time things get interesting, they are sent to the "Room".
I know they who must be obeyed have to cover their asses, but please.
And, Im not haveing a go at any of them, just thought Id make that clear.
Reply here before the "Room" comes.

Hard one to answer. Maybe everybody just needs a log-on for the room?
Perhaps failing that, when a thread is moved a place-holder is put in the original forum saying something like "This thread moved to open-slather" ?
At least that way people won't think that the thread's been deleted.
Funny thimg about the room though.
Since it's been going, although there's been some robust discussions, I don't think anybody's chucked their toys out of the cot.

I think it does stifle the conversation and the fun of the board.
I understand the reasoning behind the level of censorship. I just think it is a little heavy handed. I'm not talking about swearing but fairly harmless 'Smut & innuendo' get deleted or moved to the Orange Room. I know we have had at least one 9 year old on the board but the rest of us are adults. The jokes will go over the head of the 9 year olds or they'll have heard it in the playground.
I know the real problem is that some people complain to the administrators as soon as something a little off colour is posted. I wish they'd stop it.
I want to talk to everyone on the board like they were my mates, because they are.Photo Gallery

I don't know how everyone else uses this forum but when I come on I just hit "new posts" and go from there. When I get to the end of the list I just hit it again, etc etc.
This way I can keep up with things no matter where they are. And yes I do have the dirty password.

Honestly, while I respect Gumby & Sturdee immensely
I cannot fathom why they wouldn't occassionally go orange for some issues, sorta like taking the conversation to the table at the pub rather than with all the non participants at the bar.
I post here to ask, reply, or get something off my chest, but sometimes would prefer that non members(non cambatants? non participative types, looky loos) didn't act like eavesdroppers as the discussion may be well .......delicate in nature or potentially heated and then maybe the one post wonders whom only have an interest in that issue would find it here with a search engine.

Al has a good point.
The issue that troubles me is this: now that we have the Open Slather forum, the possibility exists for any thread to be removed from the general area and placed in the "Adults Only" section simply because someone has posted something that is deemed to be R-rated.
This, potentially, places useful discussions at the mercy of any malignant idiot who wants to express his/her feeble-minded opinions to our general detriment.
Most of us wouldn't do this, of course, but these forums exist in cyber-space and are therefore open to all manner of folk  - as has been particularly obvious of late
If our moderators were to consider the axe ahead of the removal van in such cases, we might keep threads that should be available to all out in the open where they belong.
The Orange Room would then be available for its proper purpose - as E. maculata has eloquently suggested - the private conversation table.
My two bobs' worth.
