eye muffs

Has anyone tried Eye Muffs? safety glasses and earmuffs in 1. I have a large head and therefore my glasses are very wide and had issues finding safety glasses that fit well over them

I have a pair I bought over 12 months ago. Called Reptilier?
I wear glasses and they fit over them comfortably. Their hearing protection is not at the highest rating though.- one step down on my Hearing protection I use at work.

You could go for plugs under the muffs if you're concerned about the lower rating.

I prefer plugs to muffs anyway, I find that they block out more sound in general and particularly some of the lower frequencies, dunno why. Maybe the large area in contact with your head amplifies bone conduction of the sound?

Wearing muffs over glasses also seemed to reduce their effectiveness as the arms of the glasses interfered with getting a perfect seal around my ears, although I wear prescription safety glasses that have larger arms than normal wire frames.

Plugs were Howard Leight Max, muffs were Peltor H10A, both are rated at Class 5, 33dB

These are mine. Ratings on muffs is Class 4.

I think you will find a full face shield more practical if you ware glasses. Also provides some protection for you'r face if things get to flying around.

Full face mask and adding hearing protection plus respirator is a huge pita IMO

I find the eyemuffs with respirator added both comfortable and adequate for what I do.

Should have said face shield with ear muffs attached. I have not yet tried those eye muffs and dont have a resperator either but any goggles I have tried tend to steam up from the filter mask. Less misting with the shield and the whole face being covered tends to at least make me think I am safer. I started with the face shield for turning but pretty soon was using it at the tablesaw too.

My understanding with the reptilers is that the muffs have to be worn all the time if you want to wear the safety glasses?

This is why I prefer the muffs and face protection to be independent.
When turning, using a bench grinder, drill press or linisher, muffs are not essential.

I find the most flexible tsystem for me is to use the behind the neck muffs (Peltors 10's) and a FF shield.
The Peltors can be worn upside down so they clip over the headband of the FFS and they both hold everything on really well.
I also wear glasses but the Peltors seem to mould around the sides arms OK
I've used these plus earplugs since 206 when I started chainsaw milling with 120cc saws. These things are loud and run for many minutes at a time when in use, Some cuts are 20+ minutes at wide open throttle, and just to make things a little worse I also modified the muffler to give it a bit more pep but it makes it even louder.
Because I've had hearing problems for some time I've made a real effort to protect what hearing I have and have hearing tests once a year..
According to my audiologist, apart from a band around the 4kHz mark (too much 70's rock music) my hearing has gone from below average for my age to just above average. That does not mean my hearing as improved - just by actively protecting my hearing whenever possible, while everyone elses has gone further backwards than I have.

Yes, the eye protection and muffs have to worn at the same time and in 99% of the jobs that I do that require ear muffs, safety glasses are needed as well and there they are - all together. When I don’t want muffs but need safety glasses, a seperate set of safety glasses doesn’t exactly break the bank and provides versatility.

Work provides hearing tests every two years, free safety glasses and even prescription ones if you insist.

Sure, I think we have had this conversation maybe more than once? I see to remember you are happy with glasses and I feel more secure using full face shields?

I wear the Eye Muffs over my glasses - no problem, they work well for me.
