For others, like me, who did not understanf the meaning of "Ubique" - here is a link to Rudyard Kipling's poem

Thanks to the Past, Present and Future service members who help keep Australia, the great country it is.

Well, all the WW1 fellas have gone and now we see rapidly dwindling numbers for WW2.
The Korean and Vietnam veterans are disappearing.

My grandfather was a Gallipoli veteran who went to the Western front where he suffered a gassing and shrapnel wounds
in Sep. 1918. This meant he did not return to Australia until some time in 1919. He was blind for sometime but eventually
regained his sight and resumed his trade as a bricklayer. I never once heard "pop"" speak of the war.

Dad and four of his brothers enlisted and luckily all survived. Dad and two brothers were in Palestine and Tobruk ( Rats thereof).
They later returned to fight in NG. I know dad, at least, was in the battle of Milne Bay. He didn't like the trip in there in a glider!
This was the first loss the Japanese suffered in a land battle. All the brothers are gone now.

The wives - my aunties of course! - were always very close and the last of them died early this year.

I have cousins who served in Vietnam and like myself they are getting on a bit

One thing all these fine men had in common was an unwillingness to talk of their personal experiences, unless it was a humorous incident
    or some historical event.

I miss all these people and the bonds that kept them close.

    Lest we forget.

    Bit of info...

    Ubique
is Latin and translates as everywhere. It is the Battle Honour / Motto of Royal Artillery and Royal Australian Artillery. Nicknamed: Drop Shorts or Nine Mile Snipers
Ubique is also the Motto of Royal Engineers

Full motto of the artillery can be seen in the below attachment and translates as:
    Everywhere
    Where Right and Glory Lead
    RAA.jpg
In other words: Wherever there is a battle the Gunners (artillery) will be there to serve and support.

    Cheers - Neil

And my understanding is that they have served in every theatre of war that the Australian army has served in.
