Good for you Paul!!

I gave the deck 3 coats of oil. That took several days because of rain scuds and the need
to have 6 hours between coats.

Also rebuilt the back landing due to some rot. The LVL bearers were simply extended out past the house
and had decking nailed to them. This meant that the rain went between the slats and set the rot going
in the bearers. I cut the rot out and worked back to solid timber then coated liberally with some anti rot
goo. I took the precaution of adding in a couple more short bearers.

Next step was to nail a piece of fibrous cement sheeting down. I was going to tile but the area was not square
so I de-nailed the slats and put them through the thicknesser at the club so combined thickness of FC sheet
and slats was 19mm, Was able to use original nail holes and longer decking nails. Also did some nailing to the
new bearers.

Just put the slats on as a loose fit with no real gap. Thing is now finished, including two coats of oil. Looks and feels good.

Sometime later this year I will paint the other two sides of the house, since i now have the niggly jobs over and done with!!
