iphone level
Just found a great new app for my iPhone. Turns it into a bubble level. Comes in handy when Mrs Tex wants to hang a new picture.
Can also get the rest of the package for a small fee.
Usual disclaimer about no personal interest and etc.

I've checked it (although i was drinking at the time) at the work shop with the boys, It's pretty accurate when compared to a good quality level or grader level.
There is also a surface level, so you can put the phone on a table or something and shimm the legs (we were thinking dishwashers/ washing machines).
PS no I do not have an I phone. If you dont play it, it's not an instrument!

I haven't got an Iphone either, but the funny thing is I have 3 (free) iPhone Web Apps listed on apple.com
http://www.apple.com/search/downloads/?q=blocklayer
You might find the mobile version of blocklayer.com handy on your iPhone http://blocklayer.mobi
It has most of the calculators from the main site, optimized for mobiles. You can actually fit a (hopefully legible) stair or roof plan on the iPhone display.
The pages are tiny, so won't use up much bandwidth.

The center bubble level is cool as is the angle finder which both I use on the job. Another cool app, BalusterPro, is used to calculate baluster spacing. Works quite differently than other baluster calculators and is a very handy tool. Check it out at www.gabrioconstruction.com.

ONe of my foreman has just added this app to his iphone and i was playing with it a couple of days ago.
I too was actually pleasantly surprised how accurate it was.
Probably wouldn't do the iphone any good with regular use onsite though

I have been using my iPhone on the job for almost a year now without any issues. They have some nice cases for them and I am very careful with it. Rumor has it that Apple will be selling the 8GB model in the US for $99 soon at which point it becomes almost disposable.
