Default what size tiles for this bathroom to use?

have to retile a bathroom soon, the existing tiles are 200x200mm in size.
looking at 300x300 on the floor and 600 x 600mm on the walls?
would this be too big you recon the wall tiles? or would 600x300 be better?

    why even bother tiling.

slap some cheap 300x300 tiles on the floor and put the plastic wall sheets/panels up

    no grout to clean
glues to the existing tiles so you don't have to muck with the water proofing
easily cut and looks modern enough

I think larger-than-average-sized tiles look good. Not huge like you were talking about.

I was in a toilet where I worked, and I began to look closely at the tiles. This was on the walls. The white tiles were (I guess) maybe 350 tall x 300 wide. The thing that struck me was that the (white) grout was slimmer than I'd ever noticed before. The grout gap on tiles I've mostly seen must be 3mm. That's what I've used in my limited tiling experience. I didn't know you could get smaller. This tile job must have been done using 1.5mm spacers.

    It looked fantastic.

I suspect you'd have to be more careful with the narrower gaps. Any alignment errors would be more difficult to rectify, but it looked fabulous.

We are looking at removing our bath/shower unit for a floor level walk in, or wheelchair push in open shower type thingy in our bathroom.

300mm x 600mm was the minimum suggestion from the tiler, with 600mm x 600mm for the walls being better in that they are quicker to place and often look better, and there are fewer grout lines where mould can start.

Having now seen 600mm x 600mm wall tiles on a wall, I agreed that the wall looked remarkably clean, not busy at all.

to me 600x600 in a smallish bathroom measuring1.7m wide x 2.7m long makes the bathroom look smaller.
the boss wants to go with 300 x 600mm for the wall and 300x300 for the floor.

Consider the smaller grout spacers, too.

2mm is probably a good compromise. Not the smallest. Not the largest. Lay a few tiles on the ground with spacers in place to see how it looks.

With less gap you will have less room to correct any error in placement if the tiles start going skew whiff. You'd want to make sure that the first row you do is resting on a perfectly straight straight-edge and that it's not going to bow at all under the weight of the tiles.

    Good luck.
