I have recently purchased an old wood lathe so that i can learn more about timbers and working with them, so that i can pass on that knowledge to my future students.

Anytips for a newbie what be great as for tools i have a fair few being a carpenter(how ever i have been off the tools for at least 9 years).

    Thanks

    Craig

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Craig".
There are a heap of members in & around the Sydney, the south coast and surrounding areas.......
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork....
    Cheers crowie

PS - Watch out for a Sydney area "get together" at Katoomba....good to met and chat....

On the tools, watch out for Garage Sales, Decreased Estates, Clearance Sales and look for the older good quality tools to help start your collection until you get a handle on which direction you'd prefer to head with your woodwork...also the Forum Market Place

Welcome to the forum from another Craig....another Industrial Arts teacher (by the way, TAS!!!)

Hardly any teachers come on to the Forum, despite there being a Schools Forum section. Silly really, as there is so much advice and ideas on here.
