subfloor propping.
Hi,
I am currently digging out the sub floor of a brick veneer house to extend a laundry. I have had an engineer out and 3 brick piers have to go in the interim and then rebuilt at new level.
The load is only bearers and floorboards with human live load and a bit of furniture. So no roof load etc. (enginner reckons I get a bit of sag only if knocked out).
I was going to use acrow props but this is exee I spoke to a scaffolder and he suggested using 4 x 4 posts.
I have priced 90 x 90 pine H4 posts ($32). That way I can reuse for a pergola or something.
What is the best way to get them hard up under bearers, eg acrow props can be screwed up. Do you just use a couple of wedges and hammer them in tight????
Any thought or alternatives would be appreciated.
thanks\
