Paypal question
When I've paid using paypal it tells me payment will be taken from such and such a bank account, but if there are insufficient funds, then it will be taken from my credit card. A while ago I didn't have sufficient funds and rather than take it from my credit card, the bank honoured it but charged me a $30 overdraw fee. Then I forgot about this and did a recent transaction thinking it will just come off my credit card as it said it would, but no another bloody overdraw fine. So how do I go about ensuring no more overdraw fines, when I don't always want the funds to come from my bank account, but sometimes to go onto the card?
Cheers
Michael

Its a bank thing not paypal..
Banks will normaly honor debits from your bank acounts even with a zero ballance.. up to a point.. usually this is a good thing.. like when things like insurances are directly debited, isn't it better to have the bank honour the payment rather than having to wait a week for a letter from an insurance complany saying that because you missed a payment your no longer covered untill its paid... which as we all know is usually the time that your house gets broken into.
If you want paypal to make a payment from your credit card you are best logging into paypal and changing your payment option before completing the transaction.
This might seem like a bit of a pain but it will definately ensure that the payment is taken from the account you wantRgds

Mic,
You may not want to do it, but here's is what I do: Set up a Paypal money account and put a small amount of money in it, with your CC as backup. Set up a transfer link between your bank and the PP account, but only under YOUR direction. (In other words, money only gets transferred when you initiate it.) PP won't charge you if the money is depleted and it goes to your CC. When you have money available, transfer some more into the PP account.
Not for everyone, but works for me.Cheers,
Bob

You can do it even easier.
My Paypal account is only linked to my credit card, so when I buy something with Paypal it gets debited to my credit card. At the end of the month I pay the balance on my credit card, that way I have total control. A side benefit, one I haven't had to use as yet, is that Visa will reverse any charge that you dispute.

Nevermind...
The new format of the forum made me think that there was only Michael's original post in the thread.
