Restoring vic ash staircase
Hi everyone,
Amateur here looking for advice, apologies in advance if i've landed in the wrong forum.
I've recently had a Vic Ash staircase installed that has been mistakenly painted with Taubmans Pure Performance Trim Gloss, instead of being stained and French polished.
I'm after some advice on the ability to "undo" the painting and stain & French polish instead.
Is it possible to sand off the paint and stain & French polish, or do we really need to pull the staircase out and replace the timber?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I'd probably be trying to remove with paint stripper to start, then maybe sand.
Contact taubmans tech for advice on what stripper could be best.
I'm assuming that you are talking about the banisters and rails rather than the treads and risers? I wouldn't think French polish would be tough enough there.
If the alternative is to rebuild it thrn then you have nothing to lose...
