Old Stuff
Threw this out today. Last time I used it was to tune my Mazda 808 wagon sometime in the early 80"s.

LOL!
About 15 years ago, one of the neighborhood kids came home with a 1957 Chevy Bel Air. I gave him my timing light and showed him how to use it. The most difficult part was explaining the BTDC logic to him.

I've still got my timing light, it's in a box with the feeler guage and points file.

Bought a brand new one 4-5 years ago, and it is still in it's box.
The intent at the time was to buy an old classic and do it up, but things got in the way.

Now that you've thrown it out, you'll discover a new use for it next week.

Pretty sure they are still used to check position of timing belts and pulleys as it makes it easier to see the post Vs timing mark/notch...Pretty sure i saw the reference to that in my MkIV Golf Tech book.

I've got one I bought from Tandy Electronics, I think it cost me $50 in about 1988 - Tandy had some good quality gear in those days.
This one is still in it's orginal packaging, I was always fussy about putting tools away.
I just went to take a pic but it's well buried in a box somewhere, I'll keep it but it's just an ornament now - I don't think my BA even has a dizzy.
It's quite scary to think I'm only 49 but I've got tools I've had 30 years.

Oh yeah, stashed away somewhere and still used from time to time is the oil stone my father bought when he got off the boat in 1964.

I found mine, when I took the pic it's probably the first time it's been out of the box in 25 years.

The trigger actually activated the light so you didn't have it going as soon as you connected it.
I looked around at the time and this was one of the better ones on the market.
A friend with an older car offered to buy it today, I'll never use it again but having had it so long I'm kinda reluctant to part with it.

The way I look at it, it will be used by someone who appreciates it.
You may never use it again and when you cark it, your kids will through it out
