Cert IV Training and Assessment
Has anyone done their cert IV in training and assessment recently and able to recomend a place - I know I could google but that gives me 5 million hits.
I am looking for personal experience good and bad
What I am looking for:
Easy on price - this will hopefully help me find work, but I have to pay up front and cash is tight.
A decent amount of RPL - given the degrees I have, I think I should only have to do 30 to 40% of this course.
Has to be online - I live in Gympie and dont want to travel 2 hours each way for an hours class
Has to be self paced - my casual work is sporadic, I want to be able to do lots when work is quiet and less when work is busy.
Thanks in advance

Tafe.
When I enrolled it was almost all able to be done at home bar perhaps the practical component. Wasn't expensive from memory, but I never completed it due to various issues that aren't very relevant...Semtex fixes all

Going through TAFE, it's no longer Certificate IV but TAFE and about 10 digits. I looked at upgrading to the new system and it was going to cost me around $600.00. I decided against it as it's all voluntary work that I do with it, and couldn't really justify that expense, seeing I'm on a Disability Support Pension.
Let us know how you get on please.

Qualifications don't expire as such, they bring in new things to keep training at its utmost. A bit like Road Rules, except here (TAFE), they make you upgrade to be able to keep your job. Road Rules are changed, but we aren't told, advised about them until we get pulled over, or you're a fanatical reader of Govt. Gazettes.
I personally think that teachers should go back for a refresher course every so often, because what kids are being taught now is deplorable.
Where I volunteer, they are happy for me to retain the Certificate IV instead of upgrading. Probably the reason that TAFE want you to pay for it, is that if they paid for the upgrade, and you decided to leave, they would be out of pocket.

As it happened, NSW TAFE stopped teaching the course not long after, despite it being in high demand, and NSW TAFE (OTEN) being the only outfit offering it (by correspondence, as nearly everyone doing it was doing fieldwork. It's now been taken over by our professional association, which is currently looking for suitably qualified people to provide it.
