G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Mick".
There are a stack of members in Brisbane & S.E. Queensland plus the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
You certainly have one beautiful piece of timber there.
May I suggest that you add a new thread in the general section of the forum to gain a wider audience and thus more replies to your question.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork......
    Cheers crowie

Or you can navigate by scrolling down from the front page or another option would be via the down arrows when you click on Forum.

Hey - I would look at a 4 point harness instead of drilling into it.

i.e. hooks on 4 corners going back to a central (but offset vertically higher) chain on the back. This will save you from drilling into the piece, and of the 4 hooks I would make 3 smaller, maybe with a black cover to conceal, then the bottom right one make bigger and have exposed to make it look like a fish hook and that you "caught" it.

    How does the back look?

If you have a high enough ceiling With a piece like that I'd consider hanging it i the middle of a space and suspending it from ion from the top edge.
