down the hatch
Harry was sick and tired of being constantly badgered by his wife Barbara for spending so much time at the bar. Hoping it would help matters, Harry invited Barbara along with him. “So what would you like?” Harry cordially asked, as she took her seat next to him. “Oh I don’t know” Barbara replied, “I guess I’ll take the same thing as you.” “OK” said Harry to the bartender, “we’ll take two Johnny Walker’s on the rocks!” Barbara barely took a sip of the drink before she started gagging “Oh my gosh! Get me a cup of water! This stuff is horrible! How do you drink this garbage?” “See?” said Harry “and you think I come here just to have a good time?!“

An oldie but a goodie.
Brings to mind another story, shortly after we were married (50 years ago), our landlord invited us over for a drink. She and her husband were in their early 80s. A wonderful Italian, from the old country, couple. We treated them like parents and they treated us like their children. In the year and a half that we lived there, we never saw any of their children. I did some minor and simple repairs on their property only because I could buy the materials for a few dollars and effect the repairs in a few minutes.
Mike was out doing some shopping while Josie was at home when we stopped in.
Josie drags out the bottle of Canadian Club and pours three shots. Josie says something in Italian, we all clink glasses. Josie and I each take a sip. SWMBO just downs the entire shot. I was shocked because I had never seen my wife drink like that. We've laughed about that over the years.
