Where can you find Naphta (or equivalent) in Oz?
Hello,
I recently moved here from the US and I used Naphta a lot to do a final cleanup of painted or unpainted wood before top coating. I went to the local Bunnings but they had no idea what Naphta was.
Is it available here (Sydney) somewhere and if not, what would be an equivalent? Something that cleans well, doesn't leave any residue and evaporates pretty fast.
Thank you for any help!

Naptha is marketed as 'Shellite' in Australia. It'a available at M10 and Bunnings alongside the turps and meths etc.
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

Many camping shops have it too - used in some liquid fuel stoves.
Oh, and for a cocktail add brown boot polish to meths.Cheers, Ern

Friend who worked in the Tax Office swears he was doing a spot audit on a hardware store in an inner city suburb, and found that they had a refrigerator cabinet full of metho. When questioned, the owner stated that his clientele liked their metho chilled. As he digested the comment, one of the customers walked in, picked out a bottle, had it wrapped in the mandatory plain brown paper bag & departed for the local park.
And the account books were all above board too.
