Lintel across a control joint

I am looking at installing a window in a wall where there is a control joint in the brick veneer. The best location for the window, far and away, is with the jamb in line with the control joint. This will mean that the lintel with have to span the joint. I have read that the lintel needs to be set solidly in the wall that the window sits in, and allowed to 'slide' in the other wall. Has anyone done this before? Can someone describe or show a practical approach to this? My many google searches have returned rather limited results.

I understand that the lintel is required to be able to 'slide' in the RH wall. Flexible sealant/packing placed around the RH end of the lintel to enable the control joint to be 'uninterrupted'

I would get a pack of these https://www.bunnings.com.au/titan-75...ckers_p0647629
and place one above and below the lintel both ends, then caulk as necessary.
If you feel the need for more than one each end then simply get a larger pack that holds more than 5 of each size.
