Advice on floor finish debacle
Hoping to get some advice on what to do here. A few weeks ago we engaged a person to sand our floors (bamboo) and then apply a sealer followed by 2 coats. The sanding work was really great, and everything looked great until the last coat which went down on a day we had 80mm of rain. The guy said that the weather would NOT impact the coating system but the next morning there were white patches everywhere, particularly in our kitchen, and for the next 2-3 weeks white water spots would appear even when wiping up the water droplets From my research it’s likely the rain and high humidity has trapped the moisture in the floor but he is denying that, and saying that the floor itself had moisture in it which was evidenced by the extreme cupping the floor had which they did sand out.
I raised it immediately the next day when I noticed it and he told me that it should improve over the next few weeks but if it didn’t they would come back and take off the top coat and reapply the last coat again. After the floor worsened over a few weeks I sent more pics of the floor and he agreed it had got worse and he would now have to completely sand the floor back again, and reapply all 3 coats again but they would be checking moisture levels in the floor as they go this time.
What I’m annoyed about is he has ‘generously’ given me a 50% discount on redoing all of the work again - why should I have to pay him to do this again? Shouldn’t he of known not to apply the coating when it was pissing down rain that day, or is it fair that I should pay something (several thousand dollars) given he has to redo it, because in his mind it wasn’t the weather but the floor that was the issue.
It’s also really hard to get people that want to sand back bamboo so we’re feeling a bit caught here.
Looking for some advice please

I am rather concerned about the 'extreme cupping'. I am guessing the boards were cupped up (concave) which would indicate moisture under the floor. Was this resolved? The moisture I mean. Also concerned about the sanding. This will be an engineered floor made up of bamboo laminations I think. You may get one sanding out of it but the next sanding may go through to a different and possibly less than show quality laminate. You could ring the technical line for the finishing product and enquire with them about application conditions. I would give the contractor the benefit of the doubt at this stage.
