I have just received the latest Timbecon flyer and it is advertising a book by some bloke called Neil Ellis. The title of the book is "A Polishers Handbook".
Has anybody heard of this book before and is it worth the money?

There's something familiar about it but I just can't put my finger on it at the moment.

Ben,
I have been away for a couple of days and I am just making up for lost time and past wee goofs.

How many Alsworths to the Bobsworth?
Its hard to convert, ones imperial, ones metric.
Al :D
Depends on where the decimal point fits.
I knew it! A born again! :DQuote:

In a Bobsworth or an Alsworth, any orifice will do.Quote:

I seem to recollect the 'Book". I think it actually promotes the oposition stuff to the famous 'Shellastuff'.
The important thing is to keep the thread on track. We aren't doing too badly so far. :)
Bob, I think it went way off the track - I expected a little better of a site like this. I know we've got to have a few laughs in life but this was just a little sad. :(Quote:

I'm not a spoiled sport, and like a laugh as much as the next bloke, but I think the responses to an otherwise sensible post really degenerated into abject stupidity. Where are the moderators ??

Mr McCarthy, the moderators in this case were: , absent from his post slumming it in the NW of Australia.
Neil: Getting ready to be at one of his many public appearances, The Melbourne Working with Wood show to raise revenue to keep this board open.
Christopha, was getting ready to appear with Neil, see preceding paragraph.
Shane, he too was probably making money by travelling the Eastern Seaboard of Queensland in order to eat that week.

one in the chain - the granddaughter !!!
I've really forgotten what I was on about here - I think there was talk about Red Wine - ah, yes - I am enjoying the odd Shiraz at the moment so I think I'll sign off.

You are also guilty of digressing.

This thread was started with a very tongue in cheek dig at our Illustrious Leader namely Neil. At least that was my impression. Correct me if I am wrong Bob. Other respondents picked up on this and followed suit.
We try to keep this board uniquely Australian with our warped sense of humour and I think that the balance between information and Humour is about right.
As most on this board know: if it gets too far off track "The Lord High Executioner" steps in, gets abused, smiles back and in a little while all is well again.
Go with the flow and do not act like your American namesake that caused a great deal of grief with his witch hunts.

If we are going of thread again Mr. McCarthy will have to repeat his post  as he is expecting a little better of this site. :D
Peter.
So, how is the French polishing going Peter? :D
Al
Going well, All. The second table is nearly finished. :)
The finishing shed is great and well worth the effort of building it.
Now I've started clearing out the other shed which I'll convert into a wood storage area.
Peter.
I did do the right click which is where I got
http://mindscraps.com/s/contrib/fk/wolfie.gif from.

Oh, and I really am off to Canberra in a couple of weeks, but as usual i'll have the laptop on board.....Cant wait for the warm winter nights  Might even be a little warmer than what Goulburn was a couple of weeks back... Mind you Darwin was damn cold when I was up there.... :D
Good one - you got me there !

So, Peter; to get back onto topic, how are you going to polish him off? :)
I thought the "contrib" might have been a give away.Quote:

Bob,
To keep it on topic of polishing it depends on the circumstance.
Would a wash down with lindseed oil/turps mixture be sufficient in this case or is a total stripping required. Or maybe only Ubeaut's Polish reviver willl do. :D :D :D May be others can judge for me.
After that we mix up a batch polish - to keep in line with Timbecons recommendation we will use Ubeaut's famous Shellac flakes - See still on topic :D - and keep rubbing it in untill the dull and faded look becomes bright and shiny.
Peter.

Peter, are you rubbing it in to Mr. R McCarthy, or to the rest of us for letting you come back from Lurker status. Imagine you giving someone a nasty blue square. It just doesn't fit with the Peter I think I know from these boards.
Oh, by the way the cheque that you put in the mail came through, thank you very much. ;)
It was very helpful and I'll post some pictures when I put it into practice.
Who is this Neil everyone keeps paying out on, not the illustrious man in Black I met at the Sydney show, surely?
Jim, I am an Aussie and, unlike the native ones, I have a certificate to prove it. :DQuote:

Jim, I don't believe in giving out nasty blue squares I only give lovely emeralds ( green ones). :) If I feel that somebody deserved a raspberry I would post it for all to see.Quote:

BTW Pleased to see you got my cheque.
Doesn't a birth certificate count? :pQuote:
