Not by me. What was it about?
Hah, caught you out .
Giving sneaky go's to other people, I thought I had dibs on first drive? :(
Al :(
How do I tell a customer what finish I use on some wood turnings?
Sh*Thot wax
What! and loose a customer :(
I didn't delete it. I don't know who did but I do have to edit it even though it is an illustrious product from the house of Ubeaut. :D
Fine but you still have not told me what to tell the customer.
Do I lie and just say Wax or continue as I currently do and say "Oh, It is finished with one of the UBeaut products" and hope the do not ask "Which one"
"Cough splutter ot waxtik"
<IMG SRC= "http://www.ubeaut.com.au/waxtik.jpg">
U could say fast..... 'its hot wax from Ubeaut'
Pete :D
Wasn't me neither... You sure it wasn't just moved?
David.
It is indeed a dilemna. I would probably put a link to Neils polish page.
I think with even the editing that 99% of people would still know what it was.
Am I allowed to note here that the image seems to say "FINSH" ??
Cheers,
Andrew
I sell my turnings at the markets once a month. I have developed a little following who come and see me regularly. I have managed to avoid the question untill now but a couple are seeking more detail.
These are not wood turners but ladies with some interest in wood.
I repeat "What do I tell them" I am not going to say Sh*thot waxtik.
Maybe I should change over to hut brand.
I also have learnt not to complain. I note that 5 points was deducted in one hit due this thread. Only an admin could do that.
Point taken - Lie and do not speak up.
Phut.
Why not just call it woodturners wax stick. I think it was called this at one stage anyway. So you wouldn't be lying.
Dan
David, I have been through the logs of deleted posts.
There is no record of it being deleted.
I have not taken 5 points off you and I don't know who would.
Now that I know what you are saying regarding the wax i.e. you want to tell your clients what you use, I would show them the waxstick in question. You will either get a laugh or a splutter.
Any how they will then know what you use and a damn fine product it is too.
I hope that this has sorted it out.
Pretend it's french and pronounce it the prudes way, SHITH OH :D
PS if you had 5 points taken from you then it is possible that you could see who did it now.
Hmm I really am having trouble following this thread, but i think if were in the situation, i would just say that its a secret. I dunno. I have been away for a while what is this new points system u guys talk about?
Simon
Geez you certainly have been away for a while if you are ignorant of "The Great Reputatuon Points Brouhaha of 2004".Quote:

Well, about a month or so ago, Neil, the owner of this board, turned on a feature in the BB software called "reputation points". Basically, what they let you do is rate the quality of a member's post. There's is an icon on the bottom left of the poster's id pane that lets you do this. The more positive responses you get the more green dots show up against your user name.
Similarly, if you get negative points you loose green dots.
Well, to start with, everbody thought that this was a great fun idea.
Then people started receiving blue dots as well as green ones. Then it was "oh oh, trouble in paradise".
A lot of angst was expressed, mainly because the allocation of points (positive or negative) was annonymous.
It got to the stage that the rep points were disabled for a time by (the moderator supreme of these boards) because Neil was away at the Sydney show promoting his products.
Eventually, Neil returned and he and found a way, so that when you give somone a rep point, you cannot do it annonymously.
Everything has been sweetness and light since then.
If you want to know more, Neil has set up a rep points FAQ which you will be able to find if you have a look around.
Hope this clears things up for you. :)
