Oh Crap! Not again!

:gaah:yep, did it again. Injured that fingertip, for the third time.:o:~

This is not my favoured way of trimming fingernails, I much prefer the belt sander, truth be told.:rolleyes: I was exiting one of the rooms in the house Tuesday night and accidentally closed the door on my finger as I was pulling the hand back from turning off the light. Needless to say the door won:cool:. Still don't know how much feeling I've got left in the fingertip now, can't feel it too much, just a bit of pressure feeling if I accidentally try to type with it.:(

Oh please let this be the final thing I do to this fingertip, surely this is the third and last time!!!!:C

Thanks - yes it did hurt for a while, there's a bit of bruising down the side of the finger and under the nail, but i guess I'm lucky there's not that much feeling as I think it would be painful if there were:rolleyes:


Yes, I do believe we are getting close to the one year anniversary for my ankle (which, by the way has never been the same either) Oh well, another tale to tell round the fire I suppose:doh:

Wendy you should get some revenge, turn that door into a toilet seat or some other suitable pile of sawdust!!! Hope the finger patches up ok.

Wendy, if you did the job properly the first time you wouldn't have a fingertip to jam. Do it once, do it right!:D

Oh Wendy, How could you do it three times???:D. That hurts, I must say that even I am guilty of slamming a door on my finger:-, only I flattened the tip and lost the nail in a matter of hours. I really know where youre at. Hope it gets better quickly.

Maybe having minimal feeling in the finger is a good thing, it won't hurt so much next time.:D

sounds like you need to wear a finger stall (or, heaven forbid, a thimble) on that finger - it's got a problem. I mean - to be cut once is an accident, twice may be carelessness, but three times...looks like that finger's enjoying it way too much for its (and your) own good.

- looks very painful and I'm sure the current weather in Toowoomba would be making the tips tingle. Hope you get back to the shed soon.

He was probably too terrified to speak :D or in sympathetic pain. I know I'd be having a breakdown if I saw someone do that.

Bother bother and more bother. Look after yourself. That will heal well enough but be extra careful because your more likely to hurt yourself carrying an injury like that.

My own silly fault, as were the other two accidents. A finger stall is a very good idea.

It has kept me from washing the dishes, but it won't keep my out of the shed - priorities you know:D Lots of handsanding to do this weekend, so it should be ok - with a finger stall, that is:-

Good to hear Ruffly, nothing should keep anyone from in they're shed (with some exceptions) it's the same as saying it's too cold to have a beer - piffel. :2tsup:

I've also found that dipping the fingertip in a latex glue works well once it's dried... until the end of the day and you realise you need to remove it. :-

Looks bad Wendy, been there done that so I know where you are coming from. Guess you need to rest up and get some TLC and a bit of liquid pain killer.

Wendy, please do remember that you are not invincible or you may have to start wearing boxing gloves to protect you fingers from yourself:q

You have to watch out for those doors Wendy, they sneak up on you when you least expect it. Hope you get full feeling back in your finger.

I always keep a few bottles of single malt liquid pain killer on hand. Works a treat for coughs aswell.

Even if you can still feel pain you stop careing after a while :D

Unfortunately you can't administer prior to driving or operating machinery...

What they all said. Ouch + Sympathy. Sympathy.

Was doing some renovating work for a work colleague once and the lady wanted to help, against my protests and with my concern. Well sure enough, heard a yelp and there was one finger sliced open and red stuff on the timber.

The point is, she would not go to get stiches, which I thought it needed and with just a bandage continued to work with it for a few days and by using it delayed the healing process. It kept pulling away from the cut. End result is a bump on her finger and recess scar at the cut line to this day. Doctor said it was because she kept using the finger.

So,.... perhaps a finger splint would be a good idea to keep your finger from moving, (unless that is what a stall is). Take care of yourself Wendy.

Hope it heals real quick.

I did go and get a finger stall today, a latex one. I don't think I'll use it again though as the finger can't breath. It did keep the sawdust away though. I think I'd be better off making a leather one instead - support and protection in one go.

Hope it heals quickly. I hate catching my finger in the door. Almost did it last week but caught the door and it was closing on my thumb. Luckily I only have a bruise, nail is still intact. Those fingers just seem to get in the way.
