HINT..... check air hose for HUUUGE huntsman spiders before use!
TIP....... when one drops onto your face when you have the mask on,
don't squeal like a girl and hit the face plate,
it just makes em cranky :o

forgot about it when stopped for petrol jumped back in lcruiser heading out the drive looked out window to see huntsman thought ok I am safe its outside saw it move towards windscreen looked like it was still on outside
:oo: now right in front of me so turned on wippers bloody thing didn't move :)(its inside @ eye level
jumped out of Lcruiser trying to grab umbrella to kill and take out of 1st gear at same time

Had amotorbike rider tell of similar story with a bee inside his helmet, while taking on a fast left hand sweeping bend. Very funny to listen to his laconic telling of the story but I'll bet the incident was no joke at the time!:oo::oo::o:o

We currently have a huntsman wandering around our lounge room. Spot him every morning in a different spot. Small boy has dubbed him Harry the Hairy huntsman. Just hope he doesn't land on his breakfast one morning and give him phobia.:rolleyes:

I had my wife crying from try to hold the laughs in, but at the same time her skin was also crawling.
(She hates the critters - if there's one in the house i try and make sure she doesn't see it, otherwise if I'm not there and she sees it she'll kill it, or if i am I get told to take it outside to the other side of the road, which :; I don't do.)
Waldo- If you really want to make her skin crawl, about 20 years ago, a girl I was working with, came to work with a lump and nasty bruise on her cheek about the diameter of a tennis ball and about 4cm high.
This is the story she gave as best I can remember it.
"I was getting ready for bed and I'd just put my pyjamas on. I turned off the light and lay down on my bed. Suddenly I felt a stabbing pain in my cheek. I reached up and there was a THING on my cheek. I screamed, ripped it off and threw it to the floor and ran for the bedroom light. It was a huntsman spider and I'd trapped it on my pillow with my face so it bit me.
My mum took me to the hospital and by the time I got there I had a lump the size of a mandarin on my cheek. The doctor told me that huntsmen aren't poisonous and the lump would eventually go away but I wanted the lump gone, so the doctor had me strapped down, a nurse held my head and the doctor used his palm heels to push what seemed to be a litre of brown goo out of my face."
I can tell you, it took me over two years to stop checking my pillow before I lay down on it. Even today, I can't bear to let a huntsman go for a wander around my home.
Back in the days when I used to scuba dive, it was not uncommon to find huntsmans residing in my wetsuit sleeves. Once while teaching in the local pool, my student pointed to my snorkel and gave the danger signal. I surfaced to discover a huntsman on the snorkel mouthpiece. It had taken up residence inside the snorkel.
After these incidents, I always washed my gear before I put it on !!
Fellow I worked with put on his overalls & boots in the locker room he'd been running late overslept stood up and pulled the overalls up felt something in his boot kicked it off and found a mouse then screamed like a big girl :o he'd been bitten on the inner thigh by a huntsman inside his overalls 3 days in hospital.

Abut ten years ago, I decided to take the company's 4WD over to Moreton Island for the weekend. Also dragged along the daughter and a couple of her young friends to give them a weekend of outdoors camping experience.
I was reversing out of a dead end area when a monstrous stinking huntsman jumped out of the air vent and onto my hand.
Now you know and I know, that when one is half turned around in the driver's seat with an arm looped over the back of the seat, peering out of the window and trying a tricky reversing manoeuvre involving trees, that you don't need any distractions.
Naturally, upon the unwelcome discovery that a spider has jumped on to one's arm, one's body goes into an instant and massive muscular contraction that includes not only significant arm waving, but also an increase in pressure of the right foot on the accelerator. In reverse gear. With trees around.
You have no idea how long it took me to fill out the insurance claim. The impact drove the rear mounted spare tyre into the back door and skewed it sideways. To add insult to injury the kids thought it was a marvellous adventure and didn't understand why I was shouting at them to shut up each time they embellished the story. They gave the spider a name (Spam, from memory), a university education, a psychological profile and family history. Whenever we get together, the damn story always comes up.
To make matters worse, I took the same 4WD to Moreton Island a year later and while reversing I told my passenger the story. We had a good giggle and in the process, yep, you guessed it ... found another tree. Haven't been camping since.
Normal people tell cat stories, you know.:rolleyes::D

They eat cockies and like to live under bark or in your ceiling. They are often found in homes near bushland or newer homes.
I love 'em. They can give a painful, although not dangerous bite if cornered, but that is rare as they are very timid. Watch out though if the female has a clutch of babies. She is very protective, so just let them go about their business and they'll keep your house clean of cockies and mozzies.....generally.
I worked with a bloke who had the strangest experiences with animals. I'd love to write a story on his adventures, but I doubt anyone would believe it.
For example, he came into work one morning with scratches up his arms, chest, stomach,neck and face. Naturally, I asked him what he had done this time.
He decided to wash his cat, but the cat obviously had other ideas about cleanliness. So after filling the laundry tub, he tried to dunk the cat who put up a brave fight and won....this round anyway. My mate, not one to give up easily eventually recaptured the cat within the locked laundry and shoved the cat inside his jacket. Apparently that is not a good thing to do with an angry cat.
While the cat was busily shredding his torso, he filled the washing machine complete with wool-wash and then proceeded to wrestle the cat into the machine. He was smart enough to not start the machine. Gotta give him that much.
He managed to get the cat into the machine and slammed the lid. Now I didn't know this before, but apparently cats make excellent agitators when place inside a washing machine.
After a few minutes of self agitation, he lifted the lid and out came the cat at lightening speed and clawed him yet again as it tried to make good its escape from this hell.
Believe it or not, he told me that he then had to dry the stupid thing. This naturally, brought him more grief.
The cat finally escaped when one of his kids opened the laundry door. Not only had the cat been traumatised, but his son also, when he was confronted with his father covered in blood with his shirt ripped and torn, and water, suds and blood all over the walls.
As soon as I can get this image out of my head, I will relate other animal atrocities that he has performed on his pets which all ended in grief for him.
Yep, this is 100% true. In fact after proof reading my post I realised that this was only half the story, but I'm sure you get the gist of it anyway.
Fact really is stranger than fiction.

Apparently the bar staff girl...just about threw-up...but they offered him free drinks....he said ...He was already to full(he used another word) to appreciate such an offer...but said he will enquire if it's still valid next party!

I once stole a calendar - and got 12 months.
Many years ago I pulled into the backyard of the hardware in our little town, the manager and his sole worker were in the yard and being sociable sort of blokes they naturally leaned on the window of the old Sandman for a yarn. All was good till Blue flipped my sunvisor down and a bloody enormous black spider fell between my legs. Now if I had been wearing jeans it wouldn't have mattered a toss ...but.... I was wearing stubbies and the ravenous bloody thing with fangs like a motherinlaw headed straight for me "sensitive bits". I immediately planted both feet flat on the floor so I could elevate my "bits" up and away from the danger zone. Unfortunately this meant that the right foot was on the accelerator pedal and the other came off the clutch pedal and was planted firmly on the floor. The mighty 308 screamed, the tyres howled, hell, they smoked! Which wasn't bad as it was a rubble paved yard, not bitumen! The van didn't actually move forward but it did go downward about 6 flamin' inches! Eventually I managed to despatch the monster without terminal damage to my precious parts, the dust and tyre smoke cleared and there were the two hardware mongrels, covered in dirt, dust and rubbery residue, they hadn't moved an inch because they were paralysed by laughter! It did take a while to live it down too. :(
Discussing Harry the Hairy Huntsman with 5 year old son yesterday he asks if they eat bull ants. (He has some experience of these.:rolleyes:) I said they probably would but bull ants don't seem to climb up to the ceiling so Harry couldn't catch them. He reckoned we need an elevator for them. I pointed out that maybe we couldn't convince the ants to go and get eaten. He thought that they would when they had had enough of being alive. Then they would gladly go up the elevator to be Harry's dinner. I'm still not sure this would rid the world of bull ants.:doh:
