Joe - It probably already is.When we were in LA last year there were massive Aussie Eucalypts growing everywhere. Would have been there for a long time by the size of them, good 60 years or so.
Probably all over the US but no one knows. They think they're just some sort of rare local tree.
Eucalypts were originally taken to the US of A for use as railways sleepers some 160 years ago. Then they realised that they are too slow to grow and they grow twisted and knotty, thus not being too good to use as sleepers. If I recall correctly the oldest stand of eucalypts is close to the Presidio in San Fran.

Portugal and Spain have huge plantations of eucs as do Brazil Uraguy and other sth American countries. When you buy euc oil its probably produced in portugal.
France and Spain share some of the best acacia plantations for use in perfume manufacturing.
Sth Africa extracts tannins for tanning and sell it world wide from Black wattle (A mearnsii). Microwave technology allows them to ship timber from euc plantations within 12 days of the tree being felled.
Israel have changed a cultivar of quandong so much they are now claiming it as a native of israel.
