My wife asked me what I want for father’s day. No, I don’t want anything because I have just bought a Tormek and 1.3 ton of timber.
(Would like to buy a Makita router but.):o
Now go back to 4 years ago. It was my first father’s day. I got a GMC router (Yes, I am keeping it.). I didn’t have tools and I thought $49.95 for a router was expensive.:o
Oh my gosh, in just 4 years and many $1,000 later I have become a monster. :eek:
Anyway, what are you getting?
Ask for a day in the shed without interuption. ;)
A day like any other I guess, maybe a Happy Fathers day in passing from the kids.

Oh, no, I'd never be that silly. I just told her that Valentine's day is traditionally for the declaration of secret love, and since the fact of our marriage eliminates any possibility of secrecy in the matter, that there was no point in us celebrating it.
Two black eyes, multiple cuts and contusions and a knee print in the crotch of my favourite jeans :(

I said the same to MrsP about Mothers/Fathers day, Valentines, Easter, Christmas and all the others.
None of them are about what they are supposed to be about any more. All I want for any of them is o spend some time with my family. Watching people get all hung up about whether their gift is good enough to satisfy the Christmas spirit gives me the shyts.

The joy of making something as a gift for those occasions is infinitely more enjoyable than signing your signature on a skinny piece of paper and spending the next 6 months paying it back.
The recipient values if something is hand made for them because the thought put into the gift is clearly demonstrated.

You're right Dan, we spoil our kids rotten and all they do is ask what else we got them. They've been taught from the outset that Christmas and birthdays are all about presents. Trouble is, when I jack up about it I'm a grumpy old miser :(
I'm now getting into the thought pattern, oops, so & so event is coming up, what have I got made I can give them, or do I have enough time to make them something.....
It's really nice to hear other people say the same thing, I'm makin them this......
