Thanks Steve.

Shame about the damage.
There is Mother of Pearl inlay in the shoulder of the vase too.
Al
Just reading with my Japanese wife, she guesses that it says made in and the name of the town. She did think it said Hunan but we found out it is not. The middle Kanji means south and the top one lake. Really you need a chinese to help you
Studley
Thank you both.Quote:

Hehe sorly can’t help it.
It is “Made in Woo Nan” (spelling??)
It is a place in northern China. I will look it up on a map later.
Al, you owe me a beer.
A place in Northern China?
I though the middle one (Al, the writing is sideways) said south?
Close enough I guess. :D
thats what my wife said like made in south lake need to be chinese to read what it really is she said. Anyhow it was sideways in the pic which didn't help much
Wongo can make all the white man jokes he likes
Studley
Yeah I am still trying to figure out if “Woo (lake) nan (south)” a Chinese province of city. And I can’t remember whether it is in the north or south.
Confucius Say Close enough is good enough. :D
Got it!
Ok the official spelling is Hunan. It is a province in the south next to Canton. Well NORTH of Canton really.:p
Sigh…the Chinese in me is fading away slowly.:o
WOW score one for the Missus she said it is hunan but did a google and couldn't find the Kanji. So she said that is lake that is south and get a chinese to tell you!
When we found Hunan in the list of Kanji it was different, I was taking her word on it
Studley
Thats because your fast becoming a true blue bloody Aussie:DQuote:
