Am doing a gardening project and want to have 6 200L blue barrels sitting upright on one long frame 300mm off rough gravel ground and I want to have the drums so O can turn them. :oo: the drums will have a soil based mixture in them.
The main criteria :cool: is how do I create a turntable that will hold a drum with 100KG in it and what would I build the frame from. so the turntables are not bogged

Hi Tonto, will the drums contain soil for mixing purposes? Asking, as if it's for mixing, they won't mix well vertically.

if the drums actually need to rotate about a horizontal axis -- i.e. tip -- I'm thinking some sort of frame
They dont need to tip, and they wont be totally filled with soil,
Strawberries barrels.... so I can turn them around over several days getting an even amount of sunlight.
There will be a potting mix/compost/worm farm down a 100mm pipe in the middle.
From BobL Ive found 500mm dia lazy susans from China, there is another lazy susan down the road but we are not on speaking terms...fat slob. :D

why are you using 200 L barrels? I would think that for a crop like strawberries, a barrel 1/4 the height of a 200 L barrel would be more than deep enough. Meaning that the weight of a barrel is much less than 100 kg, with the required turning effort similarly reduced.
Previous house I had 1 barrel on a moveable platform that was on concrete, the amount of strawbs that I grew was amazing, have a tentative opportunity to supply a local supplier if I cam produce a lot more berries. only this time I dont have a flat solid ground base.

Soil in large tubs can always be bulked out with material that is lighter than soil.
The other way to do this is with roller balls like these https://www.carbatec.com.au/workshop...-16mm-set-of-6
And then make up you own top and bottom plates
Each ball can support 25kg so 6 will support 150kg.
If you look on line you can save a bit on a set of 6 - will still add up though.
I used 6 of the larger balls to make a turntable base for 3 bench grinders.
