FeastWatson Wipe-on-Poly.

Noticed recently that the big (green) chain store had Minwax Wipe-on-Poly as a clearance item. I was a little disappointed that my regular source of my favourite finish was no longer stocking it.

So i grabbed a can to use on a current project and upon getting home looked for a new stockist.

Today i went back to the big (green) store and seen that they now stock FeastWatson's new 'Wipe-on-Poly'. Mastertouch Wipe-On Poly | Wipe-On Gloss Or Satin Timber Finish

Has anyone out there tried the new FW WOP?

Would be interesting to see how it stacks up against the real thing !!!!

This is interesting to see that Feast Watson now has Wipe-on-Poly. I used the Minwax brand and still have the original can that I purchased even after spilling 20 percent on the floor. :doh:

I noticed that a few weeks ago and now I know why. They have done it again. First they dumped Wattyl Estapol for British paints, now it is Minwax. I hope it is just good because I like Minwax very much. :C:C:C R.I.P.

I managed to get 3 tins on clearance for $25 a tin last week. Went back 10 mins later to grab another and there was none left.

Globak is a site sponsor and looks like a distributor of Minwax products.

Its always good to support our sponsors but by the time you add shipping, it's about $40 for a 946ml can of WOP ($10 shipping for a can, not sure if you order more than one). And if you run out and need some ASAP......

Might give the FW WOP a try on a small project one day and see how it goes. If it fails to match the Minwax, i'll just have to plan ahead and allow time for shipping if i'm out.

I went back and grabbed another can of Minwax, none left now.

I use up a can roughly every 2 months or so (my current project used up a can in 3 days!!!), so i figured i would grab another.

I wonder how long they sit on the shelf for at the shop anyway, before they are sold?

Surely if you keep the can sealed from the factory they would last a little while...

I use this stuff a fair bit, so I can't see it going to waste.

If you want to keep WOP active for long periods in the can, you need to eliminate the poly/air interface. This can be done by putting little marbles or stones into the tin to replace the volume you have taken out. Then it will last well.

My local hardware (Magnet Mart/Home Hardware) has Minwax Wipe-on Poly.

Did anyone try the FW?

BTW, MASTERS has MINWAX

Haven't tried it yet.

Still have a bit of Minwax left before i give the new stuff a go.

Bought a tin today. Will give it a go on the weekend.

I also went through separation anxiety as MinWax disappeared from Bunnies shelves BUT (at least my local) Masters store stocks it AND OTHER MINWAX PRODUCTS THAT I HADN"T SEEN BEFORE! I don't know now if Bunnies dropped the brand OR Masters took it from them? The MinWax WOP from Masters is in different containers and even refers to being "imported by Woolworths"!
