Stealing from demonstrators - Dog act.

Our own electron murderer Stu does the right thing sharing his knowledge for us all, and behind his back a weak prick takes advantage and steals 3 quality router bits (surfacing bit, cove bit and V-groove bit) he was using for the Torque Centre demo.:(( Must say though, im not pointing the bone at any forum member, but the woodworking community is small and tight knit. We share our tools, knowledge and friendship, and when something like this happens it leaves a very sour taste.

I just hope the perpetrators conscience gets the better of him, and leaves them outside the door of the Woodworking Warehouse some night, no questions asked. :)

On a happy note, it was a magnificent weekend. Everything was spot on… the food, weather, demos, the lot. Big thanks to Wanita, Grahame and Anthony:2tsup:

Just read Stu's blog post, what a low act. Stu gives us all so much through his blog, posts and videos cant believe anyone would stoop so low.

I have never had a problem letting other formites or woodworkers come to my little workshop but after reading posts like this I am inclined to keep the workshop to myself .

Anyway Chin-up Stu, dont leg one bad egg stop all the good your doing. Hopefully the missing bits find their way back to you.... :2tsup:

I really have to second what Lignum has written.

I was there today and everyone was relaxed and in a cheerful mood. There was plenty of stock there and all the exhibitors let everyone touch, look and pick-up.

I sincerely hope this doesn't change how these events are presented in the future. Such a low, low act. Heinous even.

Sad news indeed. There is always an element hoping to benefit at someone else's expense.

Scum. And probably lucky scum, getting caught might have been a very bad experience for them.

really hope this doesnt change the nature of the event
I may not have bought this time from these suppliers (still in trouble from the TWWWS)but will probably buy something through the year

Sorry to hear of this Stu,. It is bad enough that it should happen to anybody but for it to happen to such a generous person is about as low os it can get.

Perhaps visitors should have to sign in as they arrive. Pity if it came to that as 99.9 per cent are honest citizens

I was too P'dd off yesterday to raise this issue, however a nights sleep hasn't helped.

All of the suppliers at the open days took a relaxed approach, talking, demonstrating and entertaining people who we considered to be our guests, in away we treated the Braeside premises as our own lounge room, figuring that if you have guests you don't have to bolt the furniture down!!

The participants at the event will have our usual 'post mortem' which usually involves working out how we can make things better for our guests, next time, however, regrettably, we will have to add security to the agenda, How sad will it be if demonstrators like; Stuart, Terry, Morrie & Ern have to stop and lock tools away mid demo???

That said, we (PWS) will make sure that Stu isn't in anyway out of pocket by this mongrel act. Even though we to appear to have lost a couple of Whiteside Inlay Kits.

We really hope that the 'honest' guests that made up 99.9999% of the visitors enjoyed themselves as we did, meeting, greeting and of course selling.

Well, I for one hope that the dirty, thieving, rotten gutter scum that clearly thought he or she was just that little bit more special than the rest of society has befall them much negative karma. These sort of oxygen thieves unfortunately succeed only in destroying peoples faith in human nature. Their time will come, it always does. More fool them for it is they that will suffer in the long term.

I did enjoy myself when I was there on Friday morning. When I was talking to Stu before the first demo I saw some router bits on the bench next to him and they must have been the ones the B*****d took.

Would hate to think that this low act might affect the way these open days are held for I really enjoyed it.

I was letting people use my personal stuff and then going off for a few secs to talk to others and i felt at ease. Next time i will have to re think that. Who knows, the dog might have been a blow in for the free feed, and taken the opportunity to strike. I still trust woodies, so it will be hard change ways:-

Unfortunately this is the new reality - these mongrels would walk upright under a snake's belly.

No doubt he/she/they probably find it smart/amusing that they got away with it but as usual because of the act of a few the innocent will have to pay the price.

I can understand the feelings of betrayal of trust but I hope that this will not lead to an over reaction in the way that the demonstrators perform or how these shows are presented. I understand that there will, no doubt, need to be some changes - pity about that.

To Grahame from PWS, kudos to you and the company you represent, even though you also appear to have "lost" some gear you are ensuring that Stu is not out of pocket - what a great gesture, I hope that you and your company will be represented at the Brisbane Wood show so that I can support you.

This is really disappointing. I spent quite a bit of time there on Friday talking to Stu, and enjoyed being able to get close in (and was even helping him pass tools from his tool box). It's a pitty that this has happened, and he will probably change the way he demonstrates, I have always appreciated the personal touch he gives from the Triton demos, to the new Torque demos.

There are times when Melbourne doesn't seem such a bad place - these Open Days are one of those times; I always regret not being able to get there. Then something like this happens. Kudos to Stu for not totally losing it, and to Grahame at PWS for picking up the tab.

Can''t add anything other than what has already been said by others. Makes one sick to think of someone taking from another something that someone has worked hard to pay for and to have it stolen by some low life is beyond my reckoning.

Yep, I was also sad to read about the theft. It's sad to think of people targeting exhibitors who go out of their way to give the rest of us better access to their wares.

My take on things like this is that any sad git who's in a position to think theft is an acceptable course of action is in a pretty pathetic place to start with and certainly heading down life's S-bend.

I expect karma will be taking care of the rest.<o></o>

Yes i totally agree this is a low act but unfortunately this is what our society has become.

And to make it worse we accept it.

There is the fact that someone out there (who has probably read this thread) who knows the person who stole this stuff yet while they dont agree with it or like it they wouldn't send a pm or email to Stu or the cops to get them caught.

Even if it was a friend/mate who did it i would tell him to return it or i would send the pm. so come on don't just write meaningless posts and make the noise actually do something and make a difference - in this and all other situations unless we actually do something it will only get more acceptable.

Not a very nice thing to have something go missing. I dread the day that I loose something to someone. Only problem is that not much use to anyone other then another woodie.
