Resin (rosin)?

He would surely have limited supplies of that. :)
The flux is quite common, we all played with it as 'lil tackers.
NO it has nuthin' to do with psssssssssssssssssssssss
Borax, as used in those little divers that went up and down in a bottle when you applied pressure?
As this thread takes on a life of its own during he week, and thee ain't no way i can keep up, i'll offer the answer to allow things to keep rolling.
The flux used, is simply sand, i guess it's the silica in it that does the actual fluxing, but there you go.
Now a simple one to get things going again.
Name the only Amererican President to resign the Presidency.
Was of course Mr Nixon.
What breed was his dog and for what is he infamous for doing to it?
I think you are thinking of LBJ.

Ah well, what breed was LBJ's dog and what was he infamous for doing to it. Not you , you obviously already know. :)
wasnt it a black labrador who used to hump his leg ?
He may have had a dog like this but that is not the pooch in question.
was it a mutt who bit nixon then ?
No, but I would think that he would have trained all his dogs to do this anyway. :)
Hint: try doing a search. LBJ dog
Oh alright!!!
I've been hanging off hoping the smar tarse little monkey would stick its head in!!!
The dog was a beagle who used to hang by it's ears from the tired, sad president's hands!
So........ Who is the Big Yin?
P
A) Billy Connolly.
Q) What's "oakum" and what's it used for?
Mick
It's used for caulking planks on ships, and it is either fibre, or a tar and fibre mix...
So what are tools used for jamming it into the gaps called?
P
Fingers? :)
screwdrivers ? :D
Tar and fibre mix stufferinera?
Al :)
Caulking applicators?
Here is a picture of the tools used. Looks to me like a mallet and a blunt chisel. The wooly stuff at the bottom of the picture is oakum

Curiously the mallets had very long heads, and the "blunt chisels" (caulking irons) came in all sorts of sizes and offsets to allow the caulking to happen in wierd corners.Quote:

I reckon all the answers were near enough though. (Pity Ralph didn't give it a go...)
So it's five persons' turn to ask questions then :D :D
Cheers,

OK, Mick will know this for sure, what is a "Verge Board"?
Somebody who is nearly as stiff as a plank? Or is somebody who is about to bore a virgin?
At last! one I know! It's another name for a barge board. The boards that sit under the overhang of the tiles or gal iron on a gable.
My question. What is or are scopas chops?
Copas chops are a sort of lollipop made famous by Detective Kojak.
P
Lamb chops that belonged to Scopas the Greek sculptor?
Eating utensils used by Chinese Policemen.
P
Silent, I suspect you're on the right track...
A chop in the asian world is their mark or signature, can this be the signature of a Greek sculptor
Mark
A sculpting technique or feature popularised by Scopas?
Aha...the Asian world...
A Scopas is a rare marine fish, so therefore Scopas chops are obviously a particular method of cutting the flesh to produce sashimi. I imagine that the result would be something like this:-
A tool, perhaps, Silent
Its from the old sailing ship days when all the sailors knew the earth was flat.
They had this huge verge board along the edge of the world so ships couldnt fall off!
An axe-like tool used by sculptors to remove material?
Alex got it, another name for a barge board.
dunno about "scopas Chops" though.... is it someones signature?Their 'Chop"??
Whoooops again!
Is there any other kind of fish?Quote:
