Same here, I reckon he's hit the big switch, that's why he could predict it!:oo:
I logged in from Canberra tonight and got a server busy at 9:30pm
So if it it 930 here what time is it in the US.
Is it a scheduled back up, of coinciding with open of business somewhere.
cheers
Started going slow at about 9:25 pm I could read but I couldn’t post or reply & then, by 9:30 pm, I couldn’t read any longer either.
Well, the Server Too Busy train pulled into the station right on time tonight, at 9:38 and left for parts unknown on schedule at 10:05. :D
All aboard, please. :wink:
Yep, and was I glad I did my last post in my editor and not in the forum editor. Otherwise another lot of typing would have gone into a black hole!:(
At least its comming as a surprise anymore:- sorry couldny resist. Iam sureyour busting gas to sort this problem out and we appreciate it. Esp we you cure the problem:oo:
Am looking into the possibility and cost of setting up our own dedicated server. Currently we share one with cyclingforums.com.au who as I type have 2560 odd people on line along with the 720 odd of our own that's a lot of people and information to be processing at one time.
They have almost 3.2 million posts and 124,180 members add that to our little lotn of over 1/2 million posts and there is a pretty big load of stuff being housed and worked on. All together we're talking some pretty serious processing.
Both forums do a full back up of the database every day and a major back up of the whole shootin' match once a week. It's a wonder there isn't a complete systems melt down, especially if it's all happening when America is waking up or everyone in Oz is on line because they don't have "Sunday Night at the Movies" on the idiot box any more.
Cheers - Neil :no:
Maybe it is time we financially contributed to the running of the forum. :;
Steven has done a couple of tweaks and there are a few more to do over the next few days. It is running faster now than a couple of days ago and should get better and a bit quicker after the rest is done.
Cheers - Neil :)
I would be happy to pay a membership.
The car club I am in has state branches all affiliated through a national group and they run a forum. The forum is open to the public but certain parts of the are only accessable to financial members, this encourages people to join as they want access to all areas. Does create an extra workload to manage and you also need to become a operational club with consitution etc if it is not being run by a business.
