Well I reported my #186 m.i.a back in September. Quite a bit more than six weeks ago.
Lets face facts, we ain't ever gonna get it. :(
Did anyone else get the apology email that they sent last week?
What what?
Tell us more about it please.

Here at Taunton Press, we strive to provide a personalized experience for all customers who contact us. In order to do that, we maintain a small staff of people here in Newtown, Connecticut who are responsible for answering phone calls and responding to emails. Our staff is empowered to make decisions and each day at least 8 staff members are personally answering emails. When the first Australian and New Zealand delivery problem emails started to arrive, each rep responded individually as we always do, that we would be happy to send a replacement. Again, each rep responded themselves; not with an anonymous, pre-determined response. This is why some of your earlier emails received different answers to similar questions.
Please believe that we were just trying to be helpful and didn’t mean to mislead anyone. Unfortunately, this appears to have happened before we determined that there was a more wide-spread issue at hand.
It is obvious from some postings that there has also been confusion about the methods used to ship our magazines from our printer in the past and questions about how they will be shipped in the future. So, to clarify the shipping questions: all of our magazines bound for Australia and New Zealand are shipped via air freight from the United States as soon as they are printed in Wisconsin. They may be transported with magazines from other publishers that require a stop at another location in the Pacific Rim, before they actually reach a depot in your country. Once they reach your country, we have been told that it can take up to two weeks to reach you through your postal system. Now and in the future, we will continue to air freight all subscriber issues direct from our printer.
In the Taunton Press customer service replies to your emails, we had said that Fine Woodworking issue 186 was shipped by a subcontractor who had not been providing good service. We could not find out exactly what had happened to the issues, but we were told by our International Delivery Distributor, that they had arrived in Australia. We believed that the problem would be found and we expected that the issues would be delivered before our replacements arrived. We are now hearing from some Australians that they just received issue # 186, which was the subscription issue they should have received months ago. Unfortunately, we cannot explain that delay, nor can we state that every subscriber will now get their original issue since we do not ultimately have control over the final shipper.
We still do not have a complete picture as to what went wrong, but we do know that our International Delivery Distributor has set in place a new subcontractor in order to ensure that our future deliveries arrive on time. This new subcontractor is responsible for all future issues beginning with the #187. This issue should be arriving in your mailboxes by the end of next week.
Your replacements were ordered last month and are not yet expected in home. Again, we apologize for this delay and appreciate your patience.
Let's hope this is more than just lip service!
Actions speak louder than words.
Cheers. :)

My Tools and Shops is here, normal service appears to have resumed.
Cheers,
P
Yep, got mine yesterday. The missus was very happy to see that they were publishing a magazine that both of us could read. Then she found out what 'shops' is seppo talk for ;)
:D :D :D
Give your missus a greenie from me.
:D :D :D
P
She says "thanks. I think ..."
:)
Thanks Daddles, that's the nicest thing anyone has said to me all week. Now back to reality: I earn the money, she spends it. I have to beg for money to buy a pie. She takes ME out to lunch on Fridays. But this way, I can tut tut when bills don't get paid or there isn't enough money to pay the credit card. See, there is wisdom in my ways ;)Quote:
you have to give her $50 spending money
Geeeee - you blokes trying to make me feel bad :o:o:o
If yes then you are succeeding 110% :D:):D
#186 still waiting, waiting, waiting.............:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Hang on a minute ---- wasn't there a Holden which was a 186???
Is this my punishment for being a fan of the Blue Oval?? :D:p:D
Tools and shops - hmmmmmmmmmm - I'll wait a little longer before I'm going to have to start making some noises
HEY! Mr T
- I'm still at the address to which you keep sending those renewal subscriptions :mad:
Silent, let me tell you a little trick that's worked for 32years so far. On Saturday morning, I pop down to the shop to buy a paper and some sort of sweet-meat for smoko... yes I am something of a creature of habit!
Now to do that I need money. So I ask her loveliness if she'd like me to pick up some milk while I'm out (having previously ensured that the milk stock is placed out of sight in the fridge). Every week the response is the same, I get handed a purple note with the number 5 on it, ask her to do her maths a bit better, then get handed a red note, with a sideways glance.
On arriving home, the change stays in my pocket, so I've got $15.00 for my pie fund.
At some time during the morning, without fail, she'll ask why I didn't pick up any bread while I was at the bakers.
I apologise, grab another $20.00 from her purse and dash out to pick up the bread.
On a good weekend, I can pull the bread stunt on Sunday too!
I hope that can be of some assistance to you in the future!
Cheers,
P
:D :D :D
That's gold!!
We are walking distance from the shops but I have to walk past the pub to get there, is that likely to be a problem, or should I actually offer to do the weeks shopping while I'm out?
Midge's suggestion of "little shops" is best.
If you offer to do the week's shopping:
1. SWMBO might insist on coming with you to make sure you buy the right things
2. You won't be given cash - put it on the card to get the points and anyway no-one carries that much cash.
In either case, a great strategy is blown out of the water.
Now have #187 & #188. Still awaiting #186. I notice that on the wrapper for 188 they ask to have some postage details and arrival date emailed to them, so it looks like they may be doing some auditing of their distribution contractors.
Waiting, waiting....
Gudday,
Am up to date now. Received Tools & Shops yesterday and 186 about two weeks ago.
While it was frustrating waiting, getting three issues in about a month has been great!
SN
Oi, Alex and Shannon are back on topic. Is that allowed?
Richard
:D :D :D tools and shops arrived today:D :D
If mr taunton is wise he can look here & see how his postal deal is going.

Thank you for the update. I can confirm that a replacement for Issue
#186 was ordered on October 13. While we are told the shipping time is
10-12 weeks, we are receiving reports that replacements are being
delivered sooner.
Thank you for your patience. Once again, we apologize for the
inconvenience this delivery delay has caused. Please let us know if we
can be of any further assistance.
P;)
Still no 186 or Tools and Shops
It's here, 4th December.
Lucky you. ;)
Still no sign of it here. :(
I'm curious,
How many of you actually wrote back with the time details as requested on the package of the last issue to arrive?
If not, why not?
Cheers,
P
I didn't. Who reads the wrapper? Not me. Good thing I'm not allergic to peanuts...
#189 arrived in the post last night. Still no #186 though. I've given up on it.
Interesting article on table mounted routers, the Triton got best value and best overall (you listening Wongo? :D).
