No worries Ross, I'll debit the books by a $ and give you hard currency.
When I saw SM's avatar pop up a few posts ago I thought that maybe he was going to say he could make it after all. Having to change the date at this late stage was going to be a real pain.
Well today I met with Mutawintji when he traveled the journey from the Bunya mountains to the Western darling Downs just to bring some timber over for me to bring down to the GTG.
What a great bloke. The fact that he traveled all the way just to do this is an indication of his mindset even though he can't come along himself. By his own admission he is a newcomer to woodworking and has minimal tools, but you would hardly know it. Have a look at this if you doubt my words:

:) . I'll leave you all to further research his work.
I thought you might like to see what he brought over. Blackwood, maple, Rose Mahogany, the very mysterious salvaged log from the river (see the two tiny pieces he sanded) and a turning blank of unknown origin. We might have to have a vote at the GTG as to what it is.

It really is a shame he can't make it.

Paul
I have to add that there was a sour note just as he left with a vehicle infringement. Details:

OH NO! You've published! My plans are foiled!:~ :D
I'm looking forward to seeing Mutawintji's log in person, it has nice potential.
And what's this about a turning blank? :D
Last night I sent PMs and/or emails to (hopefully) all those on the list, with address and contact details.
If you didn't receive a msg then let me know and I'll re-transmit.
I'd appreciate that, mate! :2tsup: I've been running "evaluation tests" on the beast and am running out of firewood... :-
Catapult? Mangonel or trebuchet? D'you reckon there'd be enough floor joists in Brett's shed for a group GTG build? :U:roll:Quote:
just hope theres parking room for the catapult to get us all back over the border.
Tallow?? I'm sure none of us will see a thing ;)
Should a bring my 6 x 12 flatbed trailer?
Why not? We're gonna need something to fling on the trebuchet... and I think Brett got rid of the other old freezer...

Thanks for kind remarks. I enjoyed meeting with you as well. Really enjoyed seeing your shed and the boxes, some great timber. ....... and I got brekky, excellent brekky ... But perhaps I shouldn't be telling everyone that, might cause a rush ... haaaaaa
cool bananas ... Greg
Keen to attend, my travel plans don't fit this time round but if someone was going and passing close by Jerilderie or within 150 km radius I'd be happy to hitch a ride and share some driving.
Someone from Vic SA do southern NSW might work. Can provide accommodation if anyone wants to stop a night here in either or both directions.
Dave
I have sent a PM to grumpy John. Not sure what his travel plans are,
Ok, leave it with me Dave. I have a bit of an idea to flesh out.
Gday,
this sounds like a great day. I have to work till about 12 and google says about an hours drive. Will people still be around?
Wheelin', pending babysitting, are you in or out on Sunday?
That's ok no problem that's what myself and the rest of the border jumping large hat wearing catapult ridding Vicmarc lathe using brothers of the lathe are here for.
Official Anzac container is full as per protocol ( he who has it fills it) for the event.

You'll have to forgive me, but I'm having a little bit of trouble keeping up with the dialogue here. There again I don't get out much, but I'm sure all will become clear at the GTG with plenty of linguists on hand to translate into hills dialect and probably the vernacular too  :) .

Not necessarily this is "THE FORUMS OFFICIAL ANZAC BISCUIT TRANSPORTER. This humble piece of tupperware is held in high regard by stalwarts such as claw hama, wheelinround and scribbly gum"
If you do dont give it to Fence Furniture who has enough on his mind remembering to put a cake out! Put it out on a flat surface and stand back.
Nah, all sorted - already got the string on my finger. Just gotta remember to take it out of the freezer (the cake).
