My issue #186 arrived friday, two days after #187.
Either taunton use rocket post on replacements or my #186 has been on holiday.
cheers
#187 arrived today :D:D:D:D:D
No sign of # 186 :(:(:(:(
As 187 is the current issue mailout I don't quite follow the hit and miss arrivals - is it Oz Post or....?
I would have thought that they would have all arrived within a day or 2 of each other.

#187 arrived two days ago. :D :D :D :D
So I am all up to date.
I have been in the situation that you guys are in and it was all sorted in a short time, I think that the fact the it has happened to so many people it has taken them by supprise. SO JUST B PATIENT
You think you have a problem!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing to what happened to me today.
I was to fly to Brisbane today with my son his partner and baby Lila, who are staying for a week mainly to see Great Grandad N Grandad. He is sick and will never be able to travel back over here. I was to go to the GTG at Rockers place this weekend. Still going...
They are on full fares so they got on, I am on standby not a problem as there are plenty of seats so I WILL be on.
But NO, there is a problem with my ticket:eek:
When I did the booking on the computer at work [ and I can only do it from work] when I continued to the next screen all the dates changed unbeknownes to me. So when I front up to checkin nothing in the system as the departure and arrival date are past, soooooooo gone from the system [the part that they had access to].
Go to service desk to sort it out, no probs I am thinking. Yea Right!!!!!!!!!!!
Same thing NOTHING
Am told to go and buy another ticket and put this in for a refund and these two guys at customer service really just said GOOD LUCK if it is not in system how do you get refund.
Walk away calmly and I mean calmly.   with myself for not checking the final ticket.
Then went upstairs to see the departing travellers that they are on there own, no time to explain just push them through to imigration, go and have a cup of coffee and calm down. I was calm really, for what I had just put myself through.
PLane has gone
Anyhow went back to work to buy new ticket and just though I would check back on past bookings, BINGO there it is. Find a different number in booking. Ring Resevations and explain the situation, nothing, she says that she will transferr me back to just where the orriginal booking would have been done. In about 10 sec. this lady has all the info. So has changed all the bookings for me to fly tomorrow. No probs. Yea right. Plane is almost full and a good number of people on standby at this stage more than there empty seats.
So tomorrow I will now go out again and try to get out and will have drive straight up to Rockers.:D :D :D I hope.
All my own Bl#*dy fault for not checking the ticket. Th Moral of the story is,
SLOW DOWN AND TAKE YOUREEEEEEEEEE TIME WHEN BOOKING TICKETS.
Any way I will get to see my father-in-law at least one day on Sunday ten fly home on Monday.
There is alot more to the story that I will not bore you with.
Cheers Peter
Now I think that it is time for a BEER or 2
So whats the deal guys? Are we just going to die wondering?
I won’t write to them anymore because I am already on their ignore list.
I still haven't received my two missing issues. I think their service has taken a dramatic turn for the worse. I wrote to confirm that mine had been sent. I was told they had been but to allow 10 to 12 weeks for them to arrive. I could fly over there, have a holiday, pick them up from the Taunton office and still be home before they get here.
Last time I ordered a replacement, it showed up within a week. Oh well, nothing lasts forever. Maybe their shipping arrangements were costing too much and fell foul of the bean counters.
Is it possible that people in the middle east are reading our FWW magazines at the moment?:D
:(
I don't know but mysteriously I received a copy of "Which Camel?" yesterday and I'm not a subscriber...
:p
It seems that the new Dromedary GTX is rated 8/10 for ride comfort, but only 6/10 for comeliness. Looks like form is taking a back seat to function this year.Quote:
just make sure you get a good looking one
Which Camel? I know I shouldn't be surprised nowadays as there are magazines for everything but "Which Camel?" is one I wouldn't have dreamed up.
I let them know I wasn't happy, pointed them to this thread got a replacement sent out (about three weeks ago ... which still hasn't turned up) then #187 rolled up a week later then #186 rolled up the day later via the Dominican Republic ... wow
But I'm happy now :p let's just hope it doesn't happen too often
It wasn't difficult at all, but thanks for the compliment ;)Quote:

I dont think I will be renewing my subscription, its a good book but this crap sucks!
I got the 10~12 week delivery email today, so I get a issue I've paid for by subscription and it arrives 3 nearly 4 months late and they got the gaul to send constant emails about renewing subscriptions!
Sure I'd rather have had the magazine on time.
Sure it's not my problem.
But does "this crap" suck? I don't think so. I still don't think it's worth getting all hot and bothered about!
I subscribe and have done since moving away from a library system that carried the magazine nearly six years ago. I pay 25 - 30% if the price at a newsagent. In the time I've subscribed, two magazines have gone missing. One was sent by airmail, the other presumably by surface mail.
I choose not to pay for airmail delivery in my subscription rate. Yes, it would have been a great customer service gesture to have had the issue replaced via airmail, but "suck"?
If you apply the same high standard to everything you buy Harry, you'll be saving a lot of money shortly. Specially if you shop locally!
I enjoy reading the thing of course, but I do have a few back issues and a CD to keep me entertained if I get desperate before it arrives.
I had an edition of an Australian (not Woodwork) magazine go missing a few years ago, and it took several phone calls to get a replacement. In the end I had to purchase it as a back-issue, then have the cost credited against my subscription. That sucked, but I still subscribe to that Mag too!;)
Cheers,
P
High standard... wahhhhts that!
What I mean by suck, they send me an email after nearly 2 mths of me asking where is my copy... they say another 10~12 weeks. I've had subscriptions to other mags and not one is no where near as bad as Tauton for delivery times.(they were yanky car audio books)
Im not saying the book sucks, although a little more content wouldnt go astray :)
ITS HERE!
I got back from Sydney today and there it was in the letter box, direct from the Dominican Republic to moi.
The wrapper is in the same condition as most road kill. I suspect it came overland by rickshaw.
#186, baby you're home!
What happened to my letter box?
I received #187. They said that they would send out another #185, which hasn't arrived. No 186. Is it any good fellas?
Still waiting...
Still haven't got #186. I've pretty much given up on it.
Actually, I'n not sure that I'll renew my FWW sub next year.
The magazine is getting a tad repetetive if you ask me.
I mean, how many times do you need to read an article on cutting dovetails?
It's a problem with all magazines. The issue seems to be "how many things are there to talk about?"
I tend subscribe to any magazine for three years, after which time all of the reporting on a particular subject is pretty much done! For some reason after six years of FWW, (and many more borrowing it from the library) I still find something out of each issue, and that's my test...
If there's nothing to learn two issues in a row... no more magazine!
The exception for me has been computing, where the articles are always two years ahead of my understanding I tend to have to subscribe, then file the current magazine for two years before reading it!
Cheerss,
P
Mine hasn't arrived yet either?
(Do you have to subscribe first? Seem you lot are treated the same as unsubscribers?????)
FWW doesn't hold the fascination for me that it once had. Hell, I'll probably be over this whole woodworking thing in a month or two. God knows what's next though. Hope it's not expensive :(
God no! Anything but that!!
Still no #186 :(:(:mad::mad:
#187 arrived October 30 :D:D:D- just one day before their Helloween
Yesterday my renewal reminder arrived
Mr T - you could have saved on postage if you had sent the renewal with #186.
I'm getting that feeling that we are only a small market of little consequence and that perhaps it is similar to that French aristocrat's remark .......
"Hah! Let them eat cake"
did I hear the word "GOLF"...Got a really good set of clubs with bag, buggy etc. Anyone interested? Will ship ozwide (at your expense). cost a grand 7 years ago. played 9 games (including Hope Island, Royal Melbourne and Moonah Links) Left handed.
Disclaimer: these are mine. :D
PS: If you can swing a hammer you can play golf.... ;)
Waiting, waiting......
"Waiting, waiting......"
Waiting, waiting......Waiting, waiting......!
Tools and Shops turned up today.
Still no sign of #186
Waiting, waiting....
11th October - 24th November is not quite six weeks, but I've sent a note asking for confirmation that a replacement #186 has been despatched.
I'll report back.
cheers,
P
